The Swann SWNVR8-7450 Eight Channel CCTV kit features four five megapixel cameras which boast Super HD cameras. Know exactly what is happening at key locations of your home or business with insightful notifications and motion alert which are sent straight to your smart device. The five megapixel cameras also feature night vision up to 30 metres and a 70-degree field of view which allows you to accurately monitor your home or business at all hours, day or night. The cameras connect to the NVR using PoE (power over Ethernet) technology allowing you to run cable up to 90 metres away from the NVR if needed. The cables included in this kit are 18 metres each.

How much can I record with this CCTV kit?
The NVR included in this CCTV kit comes with a preinstalled 2TB hard drive. Using this you can record and store footage directly to it and export anything you need urgently by plugging in an external hard drive or USB flash drive into one of the USB ports and navigating the menu using the included mouse. If some way down the line you find that a 2TB hard drive is not enough, you can even upgrade the hard drive up to 6TB. We recommend using a CCTV optimised drive. Thanks to the eight channel design, you can add four more cameras to this kit if you decide you want more coverage.

Can I view the cameras remotely?
By downloading the HomeSafe View app from Swann, you can keep an eye on your home wherever you are. This is perfect for peace of mind whether you are at home or away – and even if you’re abroad. You can remotely connect to the NVR, getting a live video feed from each camera and the ability to play back stored recordings – all on your smartphone. The HomeSafe view app is compatible with iOS and Android devices, as well as Windows and Mac.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish. Give this one a miss for now. Same as above cameras keep going off line at random times, never worked from day one. Swann support useless 5 phone calls and still not working. The system is that new support don't even know how to reset the camera's. Been waiting two days for a email on how to reset them as there no reset button on these cameras. Picture quality is very good even at night

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review of CCTV. Easy to install but not so easy to set up. Instructions are a bit disjointed. Not easy to follow from first to last action. Could have been made a lot more understandable with clear step by step instructions from the start to finish. Also a little disappointed with the connection to android phone as this keeps dropping out and having to be reset. However I have to say that the picture quality is better than I expected and it switches from full colour in the day to infra red at night. Overall better quality than a lot of systems i have seen. Could be improved by making the pan and zoom cameras an option on the system I purchased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed Initally we bought another system with HD1080 5 megapixel cameras, also Swann but the system could not function with long wires. So customer services upgraded us to an NVR with similar camera functionality. We have lost 3 days with engineers visits and a lot of time speaking to customer services and doing research. It may be possible for the cameras to be set correctly to provide the recordings that are advertised but this is not done on installation. Unless you are tech savy and have a lot of time to spare this is not the system for you. It remains to be seen whether the system will deliver when we have spent even more time setting it up but at the moment it does not. No criticism of Maplin, they have been helpful. But the cameras and the system are not worth the additional cost and do not do what it says on the box. We think the cameras should have better night vision, the sensitivity has to be set low to stop recording the bugs at night but then it is too low to record motion during the day. The motion recording is somehow enhanced at night. The manual says the more outdoor lighting you have the better for the night vision but in reality the outside lights distort the recording and it is not possible to make out the face of a person at night. I have been reading the manual and it is possible to set sensitivity and motion recording for 4 different time frames on each camera. We are a work in progress but have already invested a lot of time in this system and it is not over yet. At the moment the system is set to record all the time which is not a long term solution. The phone and PC apps are not allowing playback either. We know people with the older Swann cameras and they seem better than what we have (including the app) at a third of the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good kit Bought this kit last week and installed it over the weekend. As instructed i put it all together in one room and it worked immediately. Minimal set up required to get it working. Then came the difficult bit, cat 5e cableing all the cameras together, involved purchasing a 1m drill bit to get through our walls !. I ignored the enclosed cables (too short and not brilliant quality) and used Weatherproof Cat5e cable instead for longgevity and slightly more rodent proof. I made sure the cable exiting the house came straight into the back of the Camera unit, in order to do this ensure you have a wide enough hole for the RJ45 Junction box at the back of the Camera to be pushed in and hidden/protected. The cameras are easy to alter where the were pointing via three different joints, standing on a ladder holding a tablet and adjusting it was fun A slightly irritating thing is that when i re connected them all back up, they were no longer on channels 1 - 4 but were now on 5 -8 so whenever you go to view on the app you have to move across to the second page. There is the capablility to change the names of the cameras to "back door" Etc but on the App and live view it still calls then Channel 1 etc. not the most user friendly. Setting up the App's on the Iphone and Ipad were easy, download homesafe view from the app store, scan the QR code that is on the top of the box, and away you go. Doesn't work on my windows phone, but does on windows tablet and Work PC. again download Homesafe view program from the Swann website, QR code does not work on these but just type in the number and it works. There is a lot of setting up of the individule cameras, but worth doing, One of the cameras was showing a very dark image but by clicking "back light" it made it totally clear. I might have to move one of the cameras as the steam/smoke from the boiler keeps setting the motion detector off. There are three types of Recording/broadcasting Mainstream (best) Substream and Mobile stream. due to my lack of upload speed on my internet connection you can Down grade the quality to improve this when viewing from away from home. I have found the kit to be good and works well so far, however i am quite techie, which i suspect you might need to be to get the best from it. Pros: - Easy to get going initially, very good quaility images, Comprehensive settings, Apple link up is good. recording and playback well thought out. Con's:- included Cables are poor, Quite complicated to fine tune. Channel names and Channel numbers not intuative. Some might say noisy. requires alot of upload bandwidth.

Hi I’m Just wondering what FPS these cameras are?

Asked by: Bruce887
At full resolution of 5MP this would record at 15 FPS. The resolution can be dropped to 1080p to record at 25 FPS
Answered by: Dale
Date published: 2017-11-21

What is the FPS and minimum operating Lux specification of the cameras supplied?

Asked by: Terry
The FPS is determined by the recording resolution selected on the connected NVR 5MP = 15 fps 1080p = 25 fps The camera employs a dusk till dawn sensor which switches over to IR illumination once ambient light falls below a pre programmed threshold, this can be turned on or off withing the NVR unit and is just one of the many parameters that can be adjusted. Unfortunately the manufacturer has not provided any details regarding the Lux level of the cameras.
