How many cameras can this DVR use?
This four channel DVR allows you to connect and record up to four analogue cameras (sold separately) and the 720p resolution delivers full HD picture quality for great security for your home or business. Connect your cameras to the DVR easily using BNC cables (sold separately) and for the best recording quality we recommend the Swann A850 720p camera (A54TW) as the sharp picture will pick out all the detail you need to recognise any intruders.

Can I watch my cameras away from home?
For peace of mind whilst you’re out and about you can access your cameras wherever you are from your smartphone or tablet using the free SwannView app. You can also set up email alerts to tell you if your system is tampered with or when it detects motion so you’re always kept up to date.

How long can I record footage for?
The large pre-installed 500GB hard drive gives you up to 30 days recording from all four channels so it’s quick and easy to set up straight out of the box. You can also set the system to record when it detects movement so you’ll only film what you need to, saving you hard drive space. The VGA and HDMI outputs let you connect the DVR to a wide range of TV screens and monitors displaying up to 1080p resolution images.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from User guide poor Machine quite good. However PTZ power connection is marked 'A and B' which means nothing. My previous Swann machine was marked '+ and -' (positive and negative). In fact the connections are reversed on the 4400H, so PTZ connections will be wrong if you are upgrading from a previous model. Machine noisy in operation compared to previous model. Swann support useless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really poor quality Just got one of these to use alongside a 4200. The cameras give a great image on the 4200, moved them to the 4400 and its really poor quality, very grainy especially at night.

How do you transfer recorded footage to USB stick

Asked by: Jem1212
Recordings can be exported to USB or downloaded directly to a PC using the Swannview link program. You can specify to export the files as .avi file format and they can be transcoded into a DVD if you have the right software, or just played on a computer using a good media player.

I have a static IP address. I want to change to Virgin Broadband, but it does not offer a static IP address. I believe the Swann DVR-4400 auto-tracks a dynamic IP address. Is this correct?

Asked by: Kocour
Yes, I am pleased to advise the item will support this use.

I have a Swan cctv installed outside my house, but I have it plugged into my T.V. and it keeps going off should I buy this DVR and will this cure the problem I have?

Asked by: Marguerite 57
I had the same problem when connected to my TV. I found the TV went to auto standby after 8 hours. This can be stopped by altering the settings on TV. Hope this answers your question.

What sort of cameras are compatible with this dvr and what sort are not? I have looked at the Swann compatibility chart and don't find it very easy to understand. Is there an easy way of working it out?

Asked by: jerseylil
This has been designed as a 720p High Definition over Analogue (HDA) system, so is compatible with any 720p HDA cameras as well as being configurable for use with older analogue only cameras using the BNC connection. 1080p or I.P. (Network) based cameras would not be compatible.
