How many cameras can this DVR use?
This eight channel DVR allows you to connect and record up to eight analogue cameras. The 960H resolution delivers DVD picture quality which is more than five times larger than standard CIF security systems. Analogue cameras connect to this system using BNC cables and cameras with audio recording capabilities can also use the four Phono (RCA) inputs to record sound.

Can I watch my cameras away from home?
You can remotely access your cameras wherever you are using the free SwannView app for your smart phone/tablet. Alerts can be sent to corresponding email accounts when your system detects motion or is tampered with for live up to date coverage. Setting up remote viewing has never been easier with the My DVR network configuration system.

How long can I record footage for?
The huge pre-installed 1TB hard drive gives you up to 30 days recording when configured to use lower settings or six days using the preconfigured settings, ideal for a quick and easy set up straight out of the box. Alternatively the system can be set to record when motion is triggered to save space on your hard drive. Additional hard drive capacity can be added by using the eSATA connection. The VGA and HDMI outputs allow this DVR to connect to a wide range of TV screens and monitors displaying up to 1080p resolution images.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well pleased I'll give it 5 stars! I decided to replace my 3 year-old dvr with this new 8 channel Swann dvr. The improvement in picture quality is dramatic. As recommended by the set-up guide, I wired together the new kit on my wooden desktop (yes, real) and tested it. This test, including hardware hook-up and software programming took less than 3 hours, thanks to clear instructions written in plain English accompanied by colour step-by-step illustrations. All worked perfectly, unlike my previous dvr which is still not fully installed because I couldn't follow the set-up guide. Thereafter was easy. Using existing wiring put in 3 years ago I swapped over dvr's and hey presto the Swann was installed. I replaced some of the old cams (420TVL) with new ones (800TVL), silicone greased any exposed cable, and now I have a new fully working CCTV system. Thank you Maplin for giving guidance in the choice of hardware.
