How many cameras can this DVR use?
This eight channel DVR allows you to connect and record up to eight analogue cameras. The 720p resolution delivers full HD picture quality. Analogue cameras connect to this system using BNC cables and cameras with audio recording capabilities can also use the four Phono (RCA) inputs to record sound.

Can I watch my cameras away from home?
You can remotely access your cameras wherever you are using the free SwannView app for your smart phone/tablet. Alerts can be sent to corresponding email accounts when your system detects motion or is tampered with for live up to date coverage. Setting up remote viewing has never been easier with the My DVR network configuration system.

How long can I record footage for?
The huge pre-installed 1TB hard drive gives you up to 30 days recording when configured to use lower settings or six days using the preconfigured settings, ideal for a quick and easy set up straight out of the box. Alternatively the system can be set to record when motion is triggered to save space on your hard drive. Additional hard drive capacity can be added by using the eSATA connection. The VGA and HDMI outputs allow this DVR to connect to a wide range of TV screens and monitors displaying up to 1080p resolution images.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy I bought one of these and had to return it as it did not work. The replacement didn't work either, nor did the 2nd replacement. I now have a credit note. 3 failures on purchase! Looking at it Swanns new 4400 really has cut all the corners to make it cheap. Its now cheap and tacky to the extent its unreliable. I have had lots of DVR9-4200 and DVR8-4200 and these have been great. I would actually recommend the DVR9-4200. Its cheap but actually quite well built. However I would strongly recommend avoiding the 4400 range. At the very least get the DVR8-4150 that Maplin have on special offer. Just don't get anything from the 4400 range.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returned machine as the clock runs fast After discovering this fault, where the clock runs fast, and skips from .01, .03, .05. .07, .08. 09, 10, 12, .15. .17.19.21 and so on. After installing the machine the following morning the clock was 20 minutes fast. Swann technical department say they are not aware of a fault and are not able to do anything about it. Maplin technical service and the stores say it is fine for the clock to run fast! Not fit for purpose, so returned the machine. All together have tested 10 machines and seen the same fault on each.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Swann Customer Service I bought this unit two weeks ago at Maplin Plymouth store to replace my two years old 4200 DVR which broke down. Box seemed to be sealed but default password for settings doesn't work . Tried SWANN UK help line - gave up after an hour of waiting with no answer. Send message to tech support - received automatic reply with some general questions , replied and 4 days of silence. One of my shops is currently running without CCTV just because I cannot get to the settings menu. Although I have 3 SWANN DVRs running elswhere will never buy one again. Beware !

Does this device show date and time on footage also can you transfer footage onto usb stick?

Asked by: danny31
Yes the date/time can be embossed onto the image when recording. Recordings can be extracted to a USB stick or if correctly configured you extract data directly over a network connection.

Can you record a single camera from only one channel?

Asked by: dan1
Yes I can confirm this would be suitable, this can either be achieved by plugging only camera in or just selecting one channel to record.

With this DVR is it possible to produce separate camera feeds with a HTML feed. We are currently using a web server that can produce this but doesn't support HD video. We would like to use HD video but still have access to a live feed

Asked by: Simoncastle89
Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee full compatibility for this item, as this is not the manner for which it was designed to be used.
