Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the box I bought this set late September 2015. At the time I wasn't sure if should go for a Swann or the Qvis range, as a installer said the previous models of the Swann were no good. After my own research and in store comparisons I made the purchase. I can say I am very pleased with this particular product - the installer was impressed too and he said 'Wow that's a cracking picture' I'll be buying two additional cameras whilst the 20% cash back offer is still on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pic is great set up seems fairly easy Contrary to other answers on this site I have set this up with the router downstairs and the dvr up in bedroom. this is connected thru my wifi extender in the bedroom so perfect no Cables trailing around house !! I had an issue setting up the email notifications but phoned Swann support and they soon got to the bottom of it - excellent support !! ( it was a gmail acct I had for some reason couldn't connect - but created a new acct and it worked ). Pics are great even in pitch black loft really clear ! Lots of settings can be changed to suit your needs ... Very comprehensive and it all seems easy enough to Get stuck into without training manuals. the remote app works well ... The playback on the remote log in is a little slow but all this depends on your bandwidth and I suppose it's not really meant for that as the best way is to review direct from the box - perfect. I have had some emails notifying me of movement along with an attached pic of the object .... Very cool indeed ... Just make sure you set the sensitivity and block out areas that are in view on the camera screen that have lots of movement like roads and pathways But so far really pleased and looking to possibly add another camera at some stage. Ps the guys in the cannock store were excellent Really knew their stuff and really went out their way to help .... Lots of places sell these but maplins were so helpful I had to buy from them !!!! Superb guys ( and I'm hard too please !) Don't hesitate even if you have problems swans support us superb

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good but with some niggles, but I woudl still buy again Easy to install. Maplin (Guildford) were excellent. Swann tech support not so great and with option 4 (software) take an age to answer. Don’t believe what the provided documentation says about setting up a Gmail account as preferred comms – I struggled, then searched forums to be told Swann had good customer service - they told me that Gmail was not good and to use my BTinternet … but then couldn’t help me and I had to call BT when it didn’t work. BT were more useless. I eventually fumbled through it myself – you need to select Yahoo on the dropdown and it works. Also the keyboard has limited characters, so I changed my internet password to allow alpha, numeric, character combination – they Swann tech support guy then identified some of my problems for any character … you need to have a password that’s alpha numeric only. There are lots of Apps – the one that seems to work is Swannview Link, but that seems cantankerous sadly. In daylight the picture is good but at night time (IR) unless someone is still and stops facing the camera you will only get an idea about the size of the intruder. That said it’s a better deterrent than just an alarm. Am I happy: yes. Would I buy again: yes. Was it simple to set up for someone with low IT patience/understanding: not really. BTW their support line has changed to 0808 168 9031 (a free number) which is 24x7 and not just the annoying M-F 9-5 that their product literature says.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality I fitted these last weekend and I'm very impressed with the quality of the picture, even at night. The system is so easy to set up and to be able to view live or search for detected movement on my tv, phone, iPad or PCs. It is very user friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to set up - easy to install Recently purchased this camera and I am very impressed! Bought this to overlook my car which was over a few gardens. I was able to 'mask' out the gardens so that I wasnt invading privacy and was looking straight to my car. Only problem here is they only allow 4 box shapes to mask the area - so you have to play around to get the most effective masking. The camera view is fantastic when you set it to the highest setting. I still havent managed to set up the emails or the phone app yet, but I am sure I will be able to sort this out soon.

Will my old Swann dvr cameras stil work with the Swann nvr4-7285

Asked by: Royston
Not usually, DVR cameras tend to use BNC connections, where as NVR's use network cables to connect the cameras.

Hi - I'm looking into buying a cctv system like this. I would be able to get mains power to the cameras, but would struggle to run the data (Ethernet) cables back to the NVR. Could the data be set over a homeplug system?

Asked by: Andrew
Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee full compatibility for this item, as this is not the manner for which it was designed to be used.

Hello, we have the NVR4-7285 Pro kit plus two extra cameras. On my tablet and my brothers phone we are both able to get the camera views. On my main home pc, I cannot get anything to work. It is all very complicated and driving me mad. Help!

We were advised when we purchased this item that it had the function to record stills/photograph like images or snapshots and save to an external drive yet so far have not been able to find a way of doing this. Can you confirm it's possible and if so how?

User guide for system http://www.swann.com/uk/downloads/dl/file/id/1664/product/512/7285_series_4_8_channel_manual.pdf pages 14/15/16 explain how to manually set the camera encode parameters for night day operation, whilst it isn't possible to disable the IR leds you can manually adjust how the camera behaves and records the incomming picture data.

Swann NVR4-7285 4 Channel IP 1TB CCTV Kit with 2 Cameras Code: A87TU how easy is the set up (residential) and do I need a computer or will I be able to set up via my android phone?

Asked by: Anonymous
Most of the configuration is done automatically, but you may need to manually configure the network settings. It is advisable to have a display device attached to the NVR to help with initial configuration, this can be removed once config is complete.
