Which CCTV cameras can I use with this NVR?
This eight channel NVR allows you to connect and record up to eight IP cameras via RJ45 connections for good coverage of your property. The 1080p resolution delivers High Definition picture quality which is more than ten times larger than standard CIF security systems.

Can I view my cameras remotely?
Use a smartphone/tablet to access your cameras remotely wherever you are with the free SwannView app. Alerts can be sent to corresponding email accounts when the NVR detects motion or is tampered with giving you live up to date coverage. Setting up remote viewing has been made simple through Swann’s My DVR network configuration system.

Is the NVR easy to set up?
The preconfigured settings allow for a simple set up straight out of the box. The VGA and HDMI outputs mean this NVR can be connected to a wide range of TVs and monitors. The 2TB hard drive capacity gives you up to 28 days recording with lower settings which can be extended activating the motion triggered recording settings to save space. Additional hard drive capacity can be added by using the eSATA connection.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will be a good IP NVR after Firmware fixes issues This is my 4th SWANN NVR, but the first true IP one. I've always been very happy with all my SWANNs, but this IP NVR isn't ready yet. It has quite a few bugs, for example: Email alerts not working (gmail), LiveView screen becoming pixelated or not showing cameras at all (the recordings are fine). Apparently, I was told by support that because of good sales, they have huge delays with support (Sept 2015), so any questions I ask are taking 2 weeks, where I get a generic reply, which I have to reply to, then I get a proper reply - BUT this takes 4 weeks. I do think this will be a good system, but it isn't yet. They claim there is a firmware update due soon (mid sept2015), but they can't tell me what it fixes. Sorry SWANN for the not great review.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not properly developed and tested I bought this NVR with four cameras for mounting outside my house. The cameras were NHD-810 bullet cameras. After initial easy set up all seemed fine but in full 1080P the images when viewed with all four cameras pixelated rapidly so that the image on the screen was smudged and blurred. Also it took a long time to refresh the image so you were not viewing real time and often froze. A firmware upgrade was available for the NVR over the net that I installed myself but this didn't resolve the issue. Swann technical support stated that my four cameras needed a firmware upgrade which they did remotely bey taking control of my computer. This solved most of the issues but created another that they are still trying to resolve. I am waiting for a firmware fix from North American Swann Support that are 5 hours behind time-wise so you have to pick your time slot appointment carefully. The problem I have now is that each camera has the ability to change the image and parameter settings such as brightness, backlight etc. This is useful for night vision as there are some settings that make the image much brighter and clearer especially in dark areas. However when the camera switches to daytime and then back to night vision it does not retail the image or camera parameter settings. These therefore have to be changed back each evening, which is a pain. It would seem that there is more research and development to be done before this system works straight out of the box. Also, it says that the system records HD for 46 days of continuous recording with 8 cameras and more on motion detection. This is rubbish. I have 4 cameras on motion detection and I get about 15 days of 1080P recording. It may well record for this long on the lowest image settings but that's not why you buy a 1080P set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to set up As the title really and the ability to check on my smart phone is great.

Will this nvr unit work with my Swann NHD-806 cameras ?

Asked by: David
Yes we have a NHD-806 camera connected to our 8-7285 recorder here in the technical support department. You would need to set the record encode resolution to 720p so that the recorder captures the correct data.
