Protect your home in high definition
The Swann NVW-485 four channel 1TB WiFi CCTV Kit includes two cameras which you can connect wirelessly to the NVR. Each camera captures footage in crystal clear 1080p HD resolution with a wide angle view of 75 degrees. This means you will be able to record all activity in a large room or driveway in high definition. Protect your home 24 hours a day with the IR cut filters providing powerful night vision of up to 65ft/20m in low ambient lighting. The built-in microphones on each camera allow you to listen in while you’re away from home via the SwannView Link app on your smartphone or tablet. Receive motion detection alerts to your smartphone or tablet to keep you in the know and report any suspicious activity straight way.

Maximum coverage for your property
As this Swann CCTV Kit only comes with two WiFi cameras you will have the ability to add an additional two Swann WiFi cameras to the four channel NVR. Giving you maximum coverage of your home or property while you are at work or on holiday.

Remotely view your cameras away from home
Download the SwannView Link app on either your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet to view live or recorded video in the palm of your hand. Keep an eye on your home or property while you’re away to make sure everything is in order or report a disturbance immediately.

Quick and easy installation
The included NVR is the latest in CCTV technology and outputs video at 1080p resolution for high definition quality. Recorded to the huge 1TB hard drive, it is capable of recording continuously for up to 48 days and easy to set up. Everything you need to operate your system comes included in the box allowing you to start recording your property right away.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but not great - beware of cable size Easy to set up but beware of large (20mm width) cable loom attached to camera. Rather than drilling small holes for power cable through mounting wall (say 5mm) there is a large dongle permanently attached to the camera which includes the power cable (5mm), one other unknown cable (also 5mm) and a gigantic network cable connector (20mmx20mm), Effectively means that to mount the camera flush on brickwork with all cables neatly concealed you will need to drill an enormous 24mm minimum diameter hole just for the umbilical chord of cables to fit through). Works well, range is OK (30m through walls) but really badly executed if you think this is going to be an 'easy install'. The pictures just show the mains adapter, low profile power cable but ommit the enormous monster of other cables permanently attached to each camera. Additionally - Despite the pictures & descriptive on the box suggesting the NVR doesnt need to be connected to your router by a NW cable it definitely does.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible range Easy to set up & is working quickly, but, very limited range between cameras & receiver/hard drive. I have 2 of the 4 cameras approximately 1m and 2 metres from the unit (through one wall each) without any issues. However the remaining 2 cameras are 5m & 7m respectively with 2 walls each to pass through (modern house constructed walls, not a thick walled castle). The 2 that are 5 & 7m away remain connected maybe 75% of the time and less than 25% when I had initially tested them a little further way and actually where I wanted the cameras. For this level of proximity needed between the 5 components (NVR & 4 cameras) it would of actually been easier & more stable to buy a wired kit rather than pay a premium for a wireless kit. Second issue is this unit can only be viewed wirelessly (on your mobile with the NVR connected wireless to your router rather than having a network cable between the 2) if you move all 4 cameras onto your own routers wireless network. Not a huge issue and would help with range I suspect, but, will dramatically limit data speed/capacity for other devices on the same wireless network (4 x HD cameras on a constant connection for example). Range feels like this product was built in 1998 and NOT worth the 30% premium over a traditional BNC wired system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Maplin surveyed the property recommended this model and their installer fitted the cameras and configured the receiver. Unfortunately the signal drops off one of the cameras 90% of the time due to poor signal strength between the camera and the receiver. The distance between the two is about 30 ft so currently not happy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to connect This system is four channel, 1TB and includes two cameras which you can connect wirelessly to the NVR. Since this is four channel, it allows you to add an additional two Swann WiFi cameras to give you maximum coverage of your home or property while you are at work or on holiday. Once unpacked, I did a quick set up of the cameras to make sure it worked. Luckily I did that as one of my cameras disconnected after 5 minutes! I had to restart it each time. I phoned up the Swann help desk and they suggested I swap the cables around and that seemed to fix it. I’ve no idea why swapping the cables around works, but I’m happy that it does! Before I fixed the cameras permanently, I checked the rest of the connectivity and did some testing. First, I connected the antennas, power cable, mouse, HDMI line and Ethernet port into the NVR machine. As this security system relies on Wi-Fi, it is important to have the Ethernet line connected at all times to enable you to view the live feed from SwannView Link app on your smartphone or tablet. The HDMI line can be disconnected if you didn’t want to view it via your television. Once this was set up, I connected all the power cables, power adaptors and antennas onto the cameras. Then I started the system setup wizard which took us over 40 minutes to set up. It was not too complicated but there were a lot of typing of email addresses, passwords, configuring the motion detection zones and many more. For some reason, it did pick up the right time and date but we did have to adjust to Daylight Saving in order for it to work. Once you have connected correctly, you are able to see the live view. Next we downloaded the free app via App store or Google store. There are quite a lot of Swann apps in the store so make sure you download the correct one! Then put in your passcode and configure your device. Each camera captures footage in crystal clear 1080p HD resolution with a wide angle view of 75 degrees. This means you will be able to record all activity in a large room or driveway in high definition. However, I am not very impressed with the picture quality at all. The 1080p HD is equivalent to about a 2 megapixel image. Most smartphones will take better quality video than this. In bright conditions, it looks fine, just slightly pixelated but for any duller days, the picture quality is very poor. I think in near future, I would probably upgrade the cameras to at least 4 megapixels. The IR cut filters provide powerful night vision of up to 65ft/20m in low ambient lighting. So far the image and motion detection works very well. The built-in microphones on each camera allow you to listen in while you are away from home via the SwannView Link app on your smartphone or tablet. Swann offers installation by their recommend installer. They are not cheap and can range from a few hundred pounds but if you don’t have wall drills or any power tools, then it is best to get some expert help! The cameras comes with thick cables so you will need to drill a sizable hole through the wall and feed the cable through. This main cable for the power so before you start drilling, you should plan on where you can plug the power adaptor in. This NVR has a huge 1TB hard drive which is capable of recording continuously for up to 48 days. I love that this records onto the hard drive and not to the cloud. There are systems on the market that require a monthly subscription fee. Also at a later date, you can physically increase the hard drive up to 4TB if you find that 1TB does not provide enough space. Overall this security system does what it says on the box such as it is easy to connect, provides motion detection and many more. It is only that the picture quality is not ideal or up to my standard.

can i connect to the router wirelessly over wifi?

Asked by: asffsa
Yes you can connect from the NVR and cameras to your network using WiFi directly using "Station Mode" which has a wizard to help you setup this option, check the user manual for more information. In Statoin mode you can mix and match with the NVR connected by Ethernet cable or WiFi while the cameras are connected using WiFi as well.
