What is a UPS?
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provides emergency power and surge protection if your mains supply fails. At the moment when you lose mains power, any connected devices will be supplied with power stored in the UPS internal batteries. When power is restored the UPS is recharged automatically – a full recharge of this UPS takes approximately 8 hours and provides up to 25mins* of emergency power, with a maximum 900W/1500VA output. This allows you to save any data and shut down any connected electrical equipment safely, preventing any damage or corruption to your system hardware that a sudden loss of power can cause.

*Please note: The maximum runtime of a UPS is dependent of the load being drawn at any one time.

What connections are available on this UPS?
The Sweex PP220 provides you with an IEC C14 connection for input power, as well as six IEC C13 connections for output power. Two RJ45/RJ11 connections are available to provide surge protection for your telephone and data lines. A single USB-B connection allows you to connect the UPS to a desktop or laptop computer to allow you to monitor and manage the UPS using the included ViewPower software.

What does the ViewPower software tool do?
ViewPower is a UPS management and monitoring tool that allows you to configure a single or multiple UPS directly from a desktop computer via USB or across a networked environment (either LAN or internet). The tool can provide analysis, statistics and event data of the UPS and its operation as well as allowing you to set any connected computers to automatically shut down upon power loss. Control of alarms and UPS battery tests can also be configured using ViewPower.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Complex software; no effective battery charging! At first all seemed well apart from the unnecessarily constant running and noisy fan, the unit does not even get warm. The 'intelligent' software is complex to instal, does not work on my Mac and offers no advantage to unit's primary function of providing short term back up power. As advised, I discharged battery and charged up overnight. Claimed '40minutes back up at half load' would have needed batteries over double the size of those fitted! I would have been content with a back up time of a quarter this. The actual backup time unit gives represents less than 8% of that claimed; less than 2 minutes at half load. The problem is clearly the inadequate charging system, with a float charging voltage so low that it could take well over 24 hours to give a usable, but never a full, charge. I get regular power interruptions, unit may do if you can be sure of at least 2 days between interruptions and can shut everything down in a hurry! All it needed was an intelligent charging system and a fan that cuts in when (if) the unit heats up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish battery life Do not buy. After just over a year the battery no longer charges and so it's now useless, No warning given that the battery was dead, only discovered it when power was cutoff one day. The 2 other sweex UPS devices I purchased have all d died like this. APC that I used in the past have lasted 5 years and provide plenty of warning of battery failure,

Hi, Do you supply or know where i can find spare output cables togo from the UPS to the PC, only came with 2 in the box yet it has 6 outputs on the back of the unit. It would be nice to be able to use them.
