Providing you with a 350w output the Sweex 650VA Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) will allow you to safely power down any electrical equipment connected to it within 10 minutes of power loss. Also with built in brownout and overvoltage protection your electrical equipment will be protected from potential damage from drops in voltage or electrical surges.

What connections are available on this UPS?
Four IEC C14 outputs will allow you to attach and protect a single workstation or small server. One USB port will provide connectivity to a Computer to enable software use and RJ-11 telephone ports will give you the option of safeguarding your telephone line by suppressing any electrical surges that may occur.

What is Viewpower software?
Once a computer is connected to the UPS and the included Viewpower software has been installed, you are able to manage one or multiple UPS devices in a networked environment by scheduling when power can be drawn from the UPS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Bought this to ensure my CCTV system can't be disabled by someone pulling the fuse outside a building site: I also got a '10a iec side-entry euro plug' and attached it to a 4gang power extension. I now have 7 cameras and a 1tb DVR, plus an internet modem powered off it so I can remotely monitor the cameras. Software from the Sweex website works on my Windows 8.1 laptop, but had to hunt for the .exe file once installed. Can monitor power loading and turn off the alarm. After leaving the UPS to charge a few hours, I unplugged it and it kicked seamlessly into action, after 10minutes I turned it back on as the battery was only 63% discharged (at 4% load) so it may well be good for 20mins at the loading I have on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good UPS. Currently using it on a CCTV system. It's good because there is no minimum load requirement like some UPS have and you can configure it through the supplied USB cable and software. Not too big either!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Had a slight problem with mine - the power sockets pushed into the unit when I was plugging something in - exposing internal wiring! I'm hoping this is just a faulty one as it's an otherwise good UPS - it could just do with some slighty stronger plastics. Going to return it to store and try another one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK but ... It works nicely with a PC, LED monitor and a couple of NAS drives running through it, but there are a few points buyers need to be warned about. The management software is not Win 8 compatible, but most people have Win 7 so that's not a big deal. The software doesn't do everything the user guide says it does. There is supposed to be a function to deliberately run down the battery to condition it, but the screen grab in the guide doesn't represent the true options, and you can only do a 10-second self-test. And the guide warns you not to plug a scanner or a laser printer into the UPS. And there is no information on the unit or in the guidance about how long the battery will last. The default settings in the software suggest it might last nine months, but that's just a guess.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Software problem Software that is provided is out of date. Trying to find where to upgrade is not simple, and when found, does not support Windows 10. Going from Sweex "we don't write the software try power-software" to Power-software "we don't write the software"! and no indication when a windows 10 version might be available. The device bleeps frequently "communication broken" and a few seconds later again "communication remade" not very satisfactory - but works fine!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK The UPS does a simple job, and plugging in a PC, monitor, two NAS drives and VOIP phone use just 20% of the power. Beware, though - the supplied software does not work under Windows 8.1, even in compatibility mode for 7 or Vista. It runs under Win 7, although not all functions in the manual are included in this package (eg, no deep discharge self-test available). The manual also warns you not to plug in a laser printer or a scanner, but you shouldn't need the UPS to keep a printer running while you shut down safely in a power outage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what I need My requirements are simple, and I've now used this UPS successfully for over three years and have just replaced the battery. It supports a couple of NAS drives, a VOIP phone, an LED monitor and a desktop PC, and successfully bridges any supply wobbles from the National Grid, which are infrequent but happen a few times a year. The Viewpower software doesn't include an option to deep-discharge the battery, although the online help screens claim it does, but I can manually condition the battery by switching off the mains power with just the monitor drawing a load. That's the only negative about this UPS. Simple and cost-effective, and the replacement battery cost only £21 after three years of use.

I want to use this to power a broadband router only. The consumption of such a device is minimal. What duration do you think the modem could be powered for in the event of a power failure?

Asked by: Fatspark
It will depend on its power consumption and what it is doing. Some routers use 3W when idling, others 13W, and under load that will increase. On the input side, the power supply on my router is rated at 5A, so I'd work on it being able to last for about 1.4 hours from a fully charged UPS, longer if it's mostly idle.

Is it possible to buy a replacement battery for this unit?

Asked by: WeatherMan
I bought this UPS about 3 1/2 years ago, and the battery died last week (it leaked around the negative terminal). It is a standard MS7-12 12v 7Ah lead acid, which is supposed to last 3-5 years. A replacement costs about £21 (I googled it and bought one from RS Components). You remove four Philips screws to open the UPS case, disconnect the spade connectors, exchange the battery and reverse the process, which takes about ten minutes, then you recharge and condition the new battery.

I don't want this UPS to supply power to a PC.  I simply want it to supply power to a domestic alarm system and a 4G router. Would it work okay without a PC?  My plan is for the alarms's SMS, email and camera functions to operate during a power outage.

Hi Gareth.  Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.  I'm going to order this unit as I now feel confident it will perform the basic task I require of it. Cheers :-)

Is it windows 10 compatible

Asked by: Mark
I contacted Sweex with exactly the same question, as I'm running Windows 10, and they replied: "You can download the latest version from the [Viewpower website](http://www.power-software-download.com/viewpower.html). Oficially they do not have W10 support yet but we have not heard about any issues with the software". I have since purchased PP-200 UPS, downloaded the latest software and, so far everything seems to be OK.

Is this suitable to use with my broadband wi-fi modem? We keep getting glitches in the mains where the supply briefly drops out. I'm on a laptop so that's ok but I keep loosing my internet connection.

Asked by: Bill
This should provide enough power to run something like that for a while, you would need to buy/make an IEC to 3-pin socket lead in order to connect the modem though. Unfortunately we don't have these available at the moment.
