Choose from three different modes to suit your purpose. In dual recording mode you can capture one track in two different levels. With the 4CH mode you can record one stereo track with the built in mic and one using the two external inputs. Overdubbing allows you to record a narration or solo over a pre-recorded track. What can I record?
Get great sound for your recordings with the rotatable built-in stereo condenser microphones. Use the X-Y arrangement with the mics pointed together for single source recordings such as a guitar playing or interviews. Use the A-B arrangement for surrounding sound like a band or debate. You can add external XLR microphones to get even more options for audio capture. The recorder comes with MS decoding for M-S recording and +48V phantom power. Loop recordings or jump back a set time to practice with a portion of a track.
What else can the recorder do?
Automatically start recording when the noise hits a pre-set level and pause when it goes down too low. Like putting a camera on timer for a group picture, you can set the recorder up to start recoding after you’ve had time to get back to your instrument. Peak reduction automatically lowers the level when a peak is detected and continues recording. The peak reduction along with the auto level, low cut filter and limiter they reduce distortion and produce a signal that is easier to use and listen to. Never miss a tone with a two-second pre-recording buffer and hit all the right notes with a chromatic tuner.
How do I listen to playback?
Listen to your recordings using the built-in 0.3W speaker or use the 3.5mm headphone jack. Auto divide tracks to make them easier to locate and when you’re done you can transfer your files with the USB cable or using a SD card reader. The DR-40V2 is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 and Mac OS X v10.2 or later.
