Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product simply doesn't work. With no instructions provided, I spoke to a helpful technical department and followed their advice to the letter. However, my initial assessment that this product wouldn't do the job proved to be right. There are no separate channels for the wires so it is all a mickey mouse. Unsurprisingly neither plug worked. My advice to any prospective purchasers is save your money, time and humour.. don't buy this product. My advice to Maplin would be to withdraw products that are not fit for purpose and to stock NTE 2005 faceplates instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from worked fine first time Was a bit skeptical about this product from reading the other reviews. But I carefully trimmed the cable, straightened the cores, pushed them home and crimped it up nice and tight using a mole wrench to apply loads of pressure. Buzzed it out: perfect ! Only trouble later was with the euro faceplate which rearranged the cores within its circuit board, so needed a bit of careful checking of the connections.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful - Complete waste of Money I too found the cable line up for the plugs was a guessing game as the guides inside don't separate the cables well plus the tool that comes with them is completely useless it doesn't push the pins down enough. I manually pushed the pins down with a knife and got 2 out of 4 contacts working but surprise surprise they were in the wrong order. Waste of time spend the extra money and buy the clear ones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless Does not work blind guess when you line the cables, used both included in the kit without success. Waste of money!

Which colour wire goes to each plug terminal? My cable is yellow/green/black/red.

Asked by: AlanB
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide wiring advice, I would advise searching the internet or contacting a professional install if you are not sure.

I need to replace a broken BT telephone plug. Would BD41U product allow me to do so. If so, how? Please explain how the metal die type item included with two plugs within this kit is used? Thanks.
Asked by: Vijay Sawhney
yes it will be suitable the die fits over the plug and the teeth make contact with the gold terminals on the plug, you then push down on the two with a pair of pliers.
