This would be a replacement for the wifi receiver in your laptop so would not increase the signal strength. You would require a wifi range extender as found here:

This will have been designed for PC use and may require drivers. As such we cannot guarantee compatibility with other devices, we would advise checking the user manual for the Humax device, as a list of compatible adapters would be provided if the device supports any.

Instead of buying a USB Ethernet adapter which would plug into the USB port on my wireless Wi-Fi box, plug Ethernet cable into adapter plug other end into Sony Blu-ray, so I can use Netflix, d/l apps. Would AC1200 work plug into the USB port on Blu-ray?
