What is this range extender used for?
If you’re looking for a way to increase the wireless coverage in your home, this TP-Link RE450 range extender is a great option. It repeats the wireless signals emitted by the router, expanding your Wi-Fi coverage and keeping any Wi-Fi dead spots (non-Wi-Fi areas) to a minimum. This range extender works with all wireless routers, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues. Operating on two simultaneous wireless bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and having a wireless rating of AC1750, makes this range extender ideal for busy and large homes.

What speeds can I expect from this range extender?
The two simultaneous bands provide you with a wireless speed of up to 450Mbps and 1300Mbps on each band respectively (2.4GHz and 5GHz). A high speed mode maximises your overall wireless performance by combining the bandwidth on both bands, to create a lighting fast connection where one band sends the data and the other receives it.

A gigabit connection (10/100/1000 Mbps) on the side of the range extender allows you to connect devices with a wire only internet connection, such as a smart TV or game console, to your network. This makes the wireless range extender act as a wireless adapter for any device connected to it.

How easy is this range extender to set up?
If you have a WPS button on your router you can press the RE button on your range extender, which will automatically link the two together. You can then find the best position to place the extender with the help of the LED indicator, with red indicating you are too far away from the router and blue indicating a good connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superfast very happy Well guys, Read the reviews before I bought and checked spec for my needs. Very fast free delivery -impressed. Opened the box and read the quick start, checked out TP-Links online stuff - all good. Plugged in close to wireless router and had it paired pdq. Had to try three locations for optimum (to get good signal other end of the house and outside), where got good signal and speed. Can now double range from base router and get 80% of max download speed close to router. For people distracted by flashing LED's there's a button to turn them off while device in use. Wife likes this though doesn't bother me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good device, but required firmware update from the box to work correctly To get the full functionality from the WiFi adapter, it was necessary to update the firmware from the manufacturer website. The device was still being shipped with firmware 18 month old. The advertised features of the extender are only available with the new firmware. Once I updated this it worked perfectly. It was a frustrating couple of hours to work that out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As Described I've been using this for a few weeks now, and it works exactly as it's supposed to, despite what others might say. However you WILL need to UPDATE it first. The instructions on the website, are quite clear on how to do this, just follow them step by step. It will be very helpful and make updating easier, if you a device that allows you both Wired, and Wireless access to the internet, at the same time. Remember that once you've finished updating the Range Extender, you'll be requested to click "restore to factory settings". This will also restore your Router to "Factory Settings" as well, so ensure you have the default passwords to hand. As assuming that you've previously changed them, you will lose internet access until you change them back to what they were! There is a way of saving your original settings, prior to clicking "Restore to Factory Settings". However Windows 10 wouldn't open the saved file, hence my previous comment on having the default passwords to hand. Don't worry about getting stuck, the email support system is there to help you if needed. You'll normally get a reply within 24 hours, together with an automated follow up, a couple of days later. Reminding you that your "case" is still open, and will automatically close within a few more days, unless you reply within that timeframe. Unless you're "technically minded" it may take a little while to finish setting everything up, which includes changing the Extenders default settings. So probably best to allow plenty of time. Once you've "got your head around it" It's actually quite simple. Just remember that you MUST update the software first, otherwise it won't work, but will give all the visual signs that it is working just fine. The system won't let you update something that's already up to date, so there's no worries there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Rubbish I got 1 day ago. Setup easily all led's lighted up blue no problem today a mix of blue & red you have to keep turning off & on because even when blue no Internet connection. Very disappointed I had a cheap one which did the same thing then you would move it it would indicate in range then after a couple of days say out of range. Makes you think made cheaply sold expensive I only live in an two bedroom apartment should have no problem from this? (DO NOT BUY)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works Bought this after suffering years of poor wifi signal around the house. Spent hours setting it up., It only seemed to make the signal weaker. Then I tried the old standby - I restarted the computer. Bingo! Once I had found a suitable location for it, nearer to the router than you would expect, it worked perfectly. Visitors comment on the improved signal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from solved the problem Bought to replace a cheaper one which had failed and decided to go for the higher spec as we have several high users at home. needed several attempts to install, (normal for extenders), key point is to select Auto connect when selecting the extender otherwise your computer may automatically switch to the main router and you will not see the website for installation. once installed, I had a download speed up to 50 Mbs. it does have WPS and a 3 year warranty, so I guess that is about 30p per week for the extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So quick and easy to set up! 20 minutes later and we were up and running. Connect the plug via an ethernet cable to connect it to your network, unplug it and plug it in wherever you want it. So we did. Set it up and plugged it into the conservatory. Hallelujah! Works like a dream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Ronseal. Does exactly what it says on the box. Ability to turn off all the lights is useful.

My Virgin 200 Mbps gaming Hub 3 Router is on the ground floor. My Playstation 4 is on floor above. Will this Range Extender be able to send signal to the PS4

Asked by: Big Zd
Yes although I would recommend using powerline equipment to give wired connectivity rather than using wireless. something like this would be ideal

This item connects directly to the router to provide a wireless connection, If you have a WPS button on your router you can press the RE button on your range extender, which will automatically link the two together. You can then find the best position to place the extender with the help of the LED indicator, with red indicating you are too far away from the router and blue indicating a good connection.
