Is this powerline kit right for me?
The kit contains everything that you will need in the box. This powerline kit is simple to use, its plug and play feature means that you can quickly plug in the powerline adapters, connecting one to your router and the other to your networked device and setup is complete. The kit will give you a transfer speed of up to 1200Mbps between the two plugs. The single network plugs will allow you to connect your networked device, such as your laptop, desktop PC, games console, smart TV, networked hard drive or even your smart fridge directly to your router and give you internet access. The kit is plug and play and also has pass-through technology built-in – allowing you to plug a device into the rear of the powerline plug to be powered from the mains socket being used.

How could I use this powerline kit?
The kit is plug and play to make setup quick and simple and also has pass-through technology built-in – allowing you to plug a device into the rear of the powerline plug to be powered from the mains socket being used. The powerline kit is designed for one plug to connect directly to your network router while the other can be connected to a networked device. It allows that device to connect directly to the internet without using long network cables. This powerline kit works seamlessly with all other TP-Link powerline products to allow you to create the perfect networking solution for you.

How does powerline work?
Powerline technology transfers data using the electrical wiring of the household. This allows for a single powerline plug to be connected directly to a router and plugged into a mains socket. This plug will then communicate to all of the other plugs that are connected to the same electricity supply. This kit comes with a single powerline plug that connects to a router, and another plug that will connect to your networked device and allow it to communicate to your router over the mains. The powerline adapters will communicate with each other when connected directly to mains sockets that are on the same fuse board. Additional receivers, including receivers that give a wireless signal, are sold separately and can connect additional devices to your router. For best results, use any powerline TP-Link powerline adaptor with a 1200Mbps rating

Rated 5 out of 5 by from brilliant....worth every penny previously had the 500meg nano tplink homeplugs in my garden office (around 15 - 20 meters from router) and was getting around 12-15mb max internet speed. Tried a new wifi router with no luck as signal was just as poor as standard virgin superhub, so returned it....whilst in store i decided to give these a try (if these didn't work i would have to dig a trench and run direct cables) so swapped them out and ran a getting 45mb on a 50mb internet connection, which when tested is the same as being stood by the router!!.....what a MASSIVE improvement.....anyone thinking of trying, give them a go...worth every penny and saved me having to dig up the garden and i have the spare homeplugs to use for other rooms in the house!....really impressed...great job tp-link!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade from previous powerline adaptors I had been using the adaptors provided by BT for their Vision TV service, but found these to be unreliable and slow. Upgrading to these has greatly improved performance AND reliability. I now have four of these installed within my home without any degradation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+++ Fantastic bit of kit Brought these as a last result to improve my connection as was only getting about 5MBS with my wifi as computer is so far from router, was so easy to set up and working straight away did a sped test and was shocked to see my connection had gone from 5MBS up to 212MBS when im only paying for up to 200MPS its like having the router right next to the computer, currently its at least 50 - 75ft away. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who is having poor connection with wifi or if your having to run a large Ethernet cable to your computer just to get a decent connection speed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really poor instructions Not a great product. Very poor, very unclear instructions combined with a level of performance that was sorely lacking. I would not recommend this product at all. The instructions were incredibly frustrating and belied the "plug and play" claim on the box. In addition, it has given no measurable improvement on internet performance in our flat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, easy to install Was warned to buy a 1200 pass-through model as all the published ratings are lower in real-life than the theoretical advertised. Our 52 Mbps speed remains the same despite using an extension lead, [with all other electrical devices plugged into a lead connected to the pass-through socket] It does say interference can affect the signal if the device shares an extension lead with other things. Certainly best to buy the fastest available, didn't see the need for multiple ports so one port is fine. Be warned, the bulk of the device is above the three pin socket, and the Ethernet cable comes out of the top, which is fine if plugging into a low skirting board socket but not if you have restricted height above the socket. Set-up was easy, just plugged everything in and pressed the two buttons, it did the pairing all by itself. Also, the instructions state that this product will work with any other powerline product on the market! A very clever device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works out of the box Just plug them in and go. Avoid plugging them into multi-extensions, and there's no problems. No set up required. Fast enough for 1080p streaming and online gaming.

Does this product handle both 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ broadband speeds? Also does this product act as a wifi extender?

This offers a wired connection only and will not support any wireless connections. if you wish to get wireless out of the other end an additional router would need to be used like the one below:

Are single powerline adaptors available to purchase so that i can add to a kit that I have just purchased. All websites are showing them as being in 'starter' kits of 2.

On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.

I have the TL WPA4226kit already. Can I use the PA8010PKIT together with the former as I don't want to lose the wifi in some rooms but don't want to pay out for the wifi version of the latter kit as they still work fine.

I work in a studio with very good wifi but need a ethernet port to connect my WD mycloud. We don't have any ethernet ports in our space and i cannot hardwire connect to the router, could this be a solutions?

Asked by: Liam477
As long as the sockets intended for use are on the same electrical circuit (same mains input, single distribution hub) then this should work fine.
