What can I expect from this outdoor wireless access point?
The TP-Link TL-WA7210N comes with multiple operational modes to provide your network with a number of wireless solutions. Wireless bridge mode provides your wired network with wireless capabilities. WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) mode allows you to access the internet via a wireless link, rather than a wired connection through a modem.

What wireless capabilities am I offered?
The high-power, 12dBi, dual polarity antenna is capable of broadcasting a 2.4Ghz wireless signal up to a distance of 5km. This allows the wireless access point to be used as part of a point-to-point network. This connection also allows two or more locations to share the same network resources. Alternatively, this access point allows you to connect multiple wireless devices to allow basic, everyday network tasks like checking email or browsing the web.

What management tools are included with this access point?
Included with this access point is an antenna alignment tool, which allows you to adjust the direction of your access point using a real-time signal strength meter. This makes setting up point-to-point connections easier. A distance setting tool allows users to lock a specific distance, needed to attain the best wireless link possible. Ping watchdog tool allows you to check the quality and stability of the wireless link. It also enables you to manually reset the access point should the wireless signal disconnect or degrade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what is says, but watch out for the specmanship This is a highly functional device, which has allowed me to set up a local wireless network and serve up web services at a small outdoor attraction, which operates as a charity. The only thing to watch out for is the wildly varying claims for range. If this device is used to bridge two networks, (eg two devices), then I'm sure that the range claims are probably true. However, when it is used as a standalone Wireless AP, then 100 to 150 m is more realistic; less if there are trees and shrubs in the way. Nevertheless it works well and I consider it good value for money.

Hi, would this product be suitable for extending Sky wifi externally for connectiong an additional Sky Q mini box for Sky TV?

Asked by: aw1965
This would allow you to create an external wireless access point, it would depend on the location of the additional box as to how strong the signal would be at destination and whether it would be suitable for Sky Q streaming options.

So can I instal this wired using rj45 network cable from my bt hub 3 (via a supplied poe unit) to just outside (10m awy) on the edge of the house tother use access my network wirelessly at the bottom of my garden 30 metres away.

Asked by: Dodgy Dave
This would be a possible arrangement, in access point mode this will allow multiple wireless connections to be fed from a single port on the router. When running the cabling outside, please ensure that it is rated for use externally.

Yes the item is provided with a power adapter.

I want to be able to use this, in to a caravan to get wifi signal from my house. From main house-caravan it's straight line and 100 m maximum, no obstacle. I will manage to connect TP-LINK with the router in the main house to get good signal in caravan?

Hi :) Im looking to send my home wifi approximately 120 meters to an outside shed. There is a shed (3 walls) in the path. Will this unit work? & if not I would be grateful for any advice. Cables are not an option as this is for a farm.  Thanks.

Is this ok to use for indoors. I have it in an attic on a table, seems to work fine and gives good coverage to the house when set up as an ap. Is this ok? Manual doesn't suggest if there are any problems with such a setup.

Asked by: Miker
This will be fine.
