What can this access point do for me ?
The TP-Link TL-WA801ND allows you to create a high speed wireless N network with 300Mbps data transfer rate for all of your Wi-Fi Devices.
The access point is adaptable with multiple operating modes, providing you with flexible ways of connecting to your network. Twin antenna using MIMO (Multi input Multi output) technology work to reduce interface and signal loss.

How can this access point be used?
Due to the multiple operating modes, the TL-WA801ND is flexible, and can be assigned different roles on your network. Client mode allows you to connect your wireless devices to a wired network, perfect for Wi-FI access on your tablets and mobile phones. Repeater mode allows you to extend an existing wireless signal to push your network signal further. Bridge mode brings wireless functionality to devices that lack Wi-Fi features, this makes a good accompaniment for games consoles or smart televisions. The TL-WA801ND can also be used with a WISP (wireless internet service provider) to provide internet access for devices connected to it.

How easy is the access point to set up?
The TP-link access point can be mains powered or powered passively via means of a Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector. With a maximum range of up to 30 meters when running PoE, you can position the access point further away and maximise the efficiency and range of your wireless network. Once in position and connected to a router or network switch, you are then able to discover your wireless access point from your portable device. Alternatively, an inclusion of a WPS button allows for quick, secure pairing of devices.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from COULDN'T MAKE THIS WORK - would've given it no stars if I could I think this one was faulty, so have returned it - I was able to connect to the "internal" set up process, but the link kept dropping. Tried to do wirelessly, then cabled - but still useless. Very frustrating...... Returning it today. (Another TP link product did the job though, so it wasn't just me)

Is it DSL compatible ?

Asked by: sousou
If you are connecting to an ADSL modem then this should work fine, however this is just a wireless access point and not a modem router so would not just connect straight to a DSL line.

We also live in 2 small separate flats, with separate power supplies. We previously were able to use a Belkin repeater to send wirelessly from a router in one, giving signal in both. Could this do a better job? If not what's your recommendation?

For a better wireless repeater, see the link below: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/asus-ac750-wireless-range-extender-access-point-a99tl

Can you confirm that the PoE injector is included with this item and can power the device remotely over the Ethernet cable. Also, in client mode, does it allocate the IP addresses itself (local DHCP) or pass the request to the backend router?

Asked by: Simon
Yes a POE injector is provided The unit supports DHCP control, full instructions for use of this feature can be found in the user guide for the device. http://www.tp-link.com/res/down/doc/TL-WA801ND_V3_UG.pdf pages 26 and 59
