What can I expect from this wireless range extender?
The TP-Link TL-WA860RE, with its twin external antenna, helps rid your home of wireless blackspots and low signal areas. Once paired with your router, this mains powered device amplifies the received signal and provides you with increased coverage for your wireless devices. An AC pass-through is located on the front of the range extender to ensure that you are not short of plug sockets.

What wireless signal does this extender offer?
This wireless range extender operates on a 2.4Ghz frequency, making it able to handle 300Mbps wireless signals. This allows you to connect multiple devices to this range extender for network access and web browsing. Devices that lack wireless functionality can be attached to the single 10/100 fast Ethernet port to connect to your wireless network. This is perfect for a game console or smart television.

How easy is this range extender to set up?
The range extender can be positioned wherever there is a mains socket in your home, and can be moved as needed. A link to the router can be established by using the WPS buttons on the router and range extender. Once achieved, the smart LED signal indicator shows whether you have placed the range extender in an optimal location. Devices can then be wirelessly connected to the range extender.

What is TP-Link tether?
TP-link tether is a free application that is included with the TP-Link 300Mbps universal range extender. It allows you to monitor and manage your wireless connection from a portable device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant I bought this to extend my wifi from the house out across the patio & garden. Plugged it it half way between the main router & end of garden. Went on to the webpage, logged in, selected the wifi signal I wanted to extend, added the same password, changed the admin password and saved. 5 mins later, walked to the end of the garden, full strength signal on phones / ipads etc. Brilliant, simple to set up, and just works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well so far Bought to boost wi-fi signal mainly for Amazon Fire TV stick which had buffering issues with certain apps. Connection to my existing access point was very easy with push button connectivity. Signal strength on my Edimax wireless utility shows the original access point anywhere between 40-60%, the extender has increased that to 100%. Kindle Fire also shows a boost in signal strength and the Fire stick is no longer buffering (specifically on the MUBI app). The extender is around 10m from the access point in a separate room with two doors inbetween. NB!! Despite sharing the same SSID and password as the original access point the extender appears as a separate device in the wireless utility (identifiable by its superior signal strength). None of my devices (PC, Kindle Fire etc) connected automatically to the extender unless restarted once the extender was broadcasting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful product this is above the expectations. I was worried if I would get another wifi provider and have to switch but I was amazed to find it has magically boosted signal of existing router. Also coverage area is very good. I can now browse in garage which is other side of 50feet garden. Both floors are at minimum 80% signals

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range, string signal I bought this a couple of weeks ago as when I changed provider the signal wasn't as good on my router. I've used repeaters before but their signal never fixed the dead spots - but this one does, with no dead spots now. I do sometimes have to switch off wifi on my device before it 'finds' the signal which is a bit odd, but once locked on it works great. Would recommend, easy to set up in manual approach, and no issues in daily use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trouble free operation Our TalkTalk router is located upstairs and its signal is pretty weak in the kitchen downstairs where we have a laptop and TV. I set up this unit and plugged it into a power point in the kitchen and the signal strength went up from 1 to 5 bars. Pairing was pretty simple too, just press the WPS button on the router (luckily it had one). Very pleased with it.

My router is on a different ring circuit to where my tv is that I wish to provide a signal to. Added to this is a 2 foot thick stone wall, the router being on one side, the tv on the other. Can your product deal with this?

i live on a barge, the marina has its own wifi and i have 2 codes in order that i can connect 2 devices only. The antenna is only 30 yards away but the signal isnt great. Would this device improve the signal and be compatible with 2 log in codes? cheers

Asked by: jimbob365
Unfortunately this would not work as you would require direct connection to the router to repeat the signal
