Is this powerline kit right for me?
The TP-Link TL-WPA4220KIT AV500 kit contains everything you need in the box. This powerline kit is simple to use, its plug and play feature means that you can quickly plug in the powerline adapters, connecting one to your router and the other to your networked device and setup is complete. The kit will give you a transfer speed of up to 500Mbps between the two plugs. The two network sockets of the powerline plug allow you to connect two devices, such as your laptop, desktop pc, games console, smart TV, networked hard drive or even your smart fridge at the same time without swapping cables.

How does the built-in Wi-Fi work?
The built-in wireless hotspot outputs a B, G and N signal which gives your wireless devices a wireless speed of up to 300Mbps, depending on signal strength and obstacles such as walls. This will allow you get an improved transfer speed over Wi-Fi to improve your surfing experience. The powerline hotspots have cloning technology which will mimic your routers name and password, allowing your wireless devices to automatically stay connected to your Wi-Fi whether it is through the router or through the hotspot. This kit will allow you to connect even more devices to your network as well as to extend your Wi-Fi throughout your home or office without expensive equipment.

How could I use this powerline kit?
The powerline kit is designed for one plug to connect directly to your network router while the other is connected to a networked device. Compatible network devices include laptops, PCs, gaming consoles, smart TVs, network hard drives, media players and CCTV kits. It allows the device to connect directly to the internet without using long network cables.

How does powerline work?
Powerline technology transfers data using the electrical wiring of the household. This allows for a single powerline plug to be connected directly to a router and plugged into a mains socket. This plug will then communicate to all of the other plugs connected to the same electricity supply. This kit comes with a single powerline plug that connects to a router and another plug that will connect to your networked device and allow it to communicate to your router over the mains. The powerline adapters will communicate with each other when connected directly to mains sockets on the same fuse board. Additional receivers, including receivers that give a wireless signal, are sold separately and can connect additional devices to your router. For best results, use any powerline receiver capable of sending up to 500Mbps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from connected to garage 55m away it connected straight away to my garage via split load consumer unit, 55m of armoured cable and a 2 way rcd garage consumer unit. plugged both units in, waited 2 minutes then entered the supplied SSID and password into my mobiles and laptop etc and had instant, fast internet. so to recap.. it works across different ring mains provided they are using the same consumer unit it works across a split load consumer unit it works through SWA cable it works through a RCD consumer unit it works out of the box with no fiddling with settings IT WORKS!!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product After doing a little research I bought this kit as wanted to extend the wifi into the garden. Read the instructions which seemed pretty clear, I plugged in and paired straight away and then connected the laptop. I have set up a seperate wifi network for me and no-one else as my daughters tend to let everyone know our router password! On my own connection via the TP-Lnk I am getting speeds on average 7-8 meg faster than connected to the main wifi router and with the added bonus I can take the wifi where ever I go in the house! All in all I am very impressed by the product, easy to set up and configure, and works a treat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secure Wireless LAN throughout my house and garden - Superb Product Follow the simple instructions to Set Up a Secure Powerline Network. I successfully created a powerful and secure Powerline network in just ten minutes, extending fibre broadband reception throughout my house, outbuildings and garden. I connected the Powerline Adaptor to the modem in my study via an Ethernet cable, then I connected the Powerline Extender to my Sky box with an Ethernet cable. Switch on both devices then press the Pair button on the Adaptor followed by pressing the Pair button on the Extender. LED's flash on both devices for a couple of minutes, and the installation is complete. Finally I typed the unique TP-Link Default Wireless Settings into my iPhone and iPad. Now I can also receive Sky On Demand programmes for the first time. A nice bonus!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, purchased to replace dead SlingLink Turbo. Plug and play set up was faultless. Wifi cloning is a bonus and very easy to set up. If long term reliability lives up to expectations, this will be great value for money too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a relief! After suffering from a poorly positioned BT Router being positioned in a cupboard, and consequently having a couple of rooms WIFI free, an informative salesman sold me this! Easy to set up, and instantly the rooms have a better WIFI connection than those rooms adjacent to the router. Excellent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor wf-fi signal - very slow speed Have had this for several months. Although it works, extended Wi-Fi signal strength, and so the Wi-Fi speed is worse than from my router, even when holding kit within a few feet of the Wi-Fi extension.
