Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent scanner Very impressed with the performance of this excellent scanner. Knowing when going to Spain that our hotel was near the airport I had great fun listening to the communications traffic. Battery life is very good on Alkaline batteries (I haven't bothered with the supplied rechargeable batteries) and seem to last and last. Audio quality is good and has the bonus of FM broadcast coverage for a bit of music entertainment when not listening to air band or ham radio etc. It fits nice in the hand and feels nicely made. Been a licenced ham radio operator for nearly 30 years and used many different radios...this one I really enjoy using. Highly recommended!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am new to scanners and admitedly this one doesnt have the full frequency range(it would be more expensive if it did), but I can listen to taxis, shipping, coastguard, harbourmaster, lifeboat, marina, and aircraft. This is ample for the time being. I am still searching for any other stuff. The unit is very small and very easy to use and has some great features. If you buy a telescopic antenna for it and sit on a hill the range extension is fantastic. Mine has suction cups so I can stick it to the outside of my car window. Battery life is very good because this little unit shuts off the backlit screen light after a few seconds and also has an automatic power saving mode which shuts down the final stage amp if no signals are received. Great value for money. Fast delivery from Maplin with no damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good scanner, also happy with my purchase - I Always use my scanner when I go to Manchester Airport, and also the music radio stations like BBC Radio Manchester to listen to the Live Football with me being a Manchester United supporter, Key 103 and Real Radio 105.4 and all the other music stations. I Would recommend this to anyone who has a hobby in scanners, because the ideal thing to have if you are interesting in aviation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brilliant Great little scanner, bought it as a back up for my Yupiteru MVT 7100 but found I am using it more than the 7100. Very easy to set up, instructions clear and concise. I use alkaline batteries so can't comment on the supplied rechargeable batteries. Only one problem, I wanted to fit a better antenna so I bought a Moonraker MRW-210SM, I have one on the 7100 and it boosts reception no end, unfortunately the base of the Moonraker is just too wide to fit the collar on the scanner. I contacted Moonraker and they told me that it was a standard size fit so it looks like there may be problems finding a better antenna. I solved my problem by turning the end of the Moonraker down to fit inside the scanner collar. To sum up, a great little scanner at a good price with just one drawback.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brilliant scanner I bought this as a back up to my Yupiteru MVT 7100 but it is so good that I use it all the time. Batteries are no problem as I use alkalines. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, took just a few minutes to set up and listen to Southend Airport traffic using the dual watch function. The only problem was fitting a better antenna as the casing on the scanner was too small for the antenna base to fit in to. I resolved this by turning the base of the antenna down on my lathe and now it fits OK. That is the only reason I have given it only four stars. Audio quality and sensitivity perfect. To sum up, an easy to use scanner at a brilliant price. I may buy another one to keep in the car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Error in downloadable manual This is a cracking little unit. Please be aware though, the downloadable manual shows the unit taking 4 x AAA batteries, When it in fact comes with 3 rechargeable AA batteries fitted.

Can you pick up military aircraft for example the red arrows

Asked by: Callum667
Military normally uses encrypted signals, so it is unlikely any scanner would be able to decode these.
