Rated 1 out of 5 by from In answer to 'Russel from Technical' to 'wiremanrbm' ... It would appear that you were using tin lead solder which has a lower melting point of around 180 degrees compared the lead-free solder which melts at a higher temperature of around 220 degrees. In order to apply sufficient temperature to get the solder flowing smoothly you would need to have an iron set to at least 240 degrees therefore causing damage to the plastic casing. I think your 'test' did not give a true reflection on the quality of the product, nor the timing of 'over 1 second' without melting. As most solder these days is of the lead-free variety I don't value this product as fit for purpose. (SteveC ... almost 40 years in the electronics repair industry!).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not fit for purpose Bought this switch 1 day ago. Tried to solder small leads onto the pins and the plastic body melted within 1 second of the soldering iron touching the pins. I've been soldering for many years at work and at home and I've never had this happen to me. It's obvious that the body's material is of very poor quality. My advice DO NOT BUY THIS EXPENSIVE PRODUCT.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality These are of very low quality. Bought three, one works, one didn't work at all, one stopped working almost immediately. Agree with the previous review that they don't take much soldering heat at all before they are destroyed. For what they are they are also very expensive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed open circuit when soldered I bought a batch of four of these a month ago. Every one of them failed open circuit when soldered even when, as a test, I soldered two of them using the thinnest available tinned copper wire, single strand 0.375mm and only the shortest possible soldering time. All failed. I cannot recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality. Sadly not fit for purpose. The plastic almost instantly melts when the soldering iron makes contact with the terminal. Tested on the multimeter and the switch is now completely dead. Disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality Bought this SPST toggle switch for a basic on-off switch. Soldered the middle pin not problem. Continued to solder outer pin and the plastic melted and switch is useless, open circuit.

Are you sure the light comes on when the switch is on? Since it is a short circuit at that time, where does the current through the led go? Are you sure it is not illuminated in the off state?

Asked by: Peter
If connected correctly the LED will illuminate when the switch is in the ON position.... The LED is used to indicate that the circuit is ON.
