Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its amazing how difficult it is to find a USB2 card for a PCIe computer at a reasonable price. A 5 port USB PCI card can be purchased for less than ?ъ10, but a PCIe USB2 card are difficult to find and retail for about ?ъ50 which is scandalous. I have an Apple Mac Pro computer and was delighted to find a Mac compatible Sonnet Allegro PCIe USB2 card on Maplin's website for around half that - bargain I thought and purchased 2 immediately. Maplin's service was very quick and I received the cards the next day. Unfortunately they were NOT the Sonnet Allegro cards I had ordered, but were instead another PCIe USB2 card from a company called 'ST Lab'. PCIe cards in an Apple Mac Pro must draw their power from the buss itself and do not allow you to attach a power cable from the mother board as some PC's do. My heart sank then as I saw this card had the power connection, so I wouldn't work. However I fitted it just to make sure and am delighted to say it works perfectly. So if you are after a cheap way to add extra USB2 ports to your Apple Mac Pro - this is it!!! Thank you Maplin! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Searched for a reasonably priced USB pci express card for my Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium system and this one fits the bill perfectly! Tried others but had problems with installation and drivers. I fitted this card, along with the seperate power supply, and when I booted the PC the drivers were installed before I knew it. It is a 2.0 USB but I was not really interested in the new speeds available - I just needed the extra ports. So far I am very pleased with the card and would recommed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this for my MacPro 2007 machine with some intrepidation as the product does not say it works with a mac and neither does the ST-Lab web. However, need not have worried. Perfect fit, easy to do, no drivers needed, works perfectly, all USB 4 external slots now filled (printers/ext. time machine disks and microphone) and cables hidden at the back. Great price too. OS X 10.5.8 MacPro dual core intel Xeon 2.66Ghz

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was fortunate to find one of these cards in the clearance bin in my local branch, and it does what it says on the packaging. Easy to fit, and fitting it has cured a problem I had with untidy usb cables lurking behind my pc. So it is a neat solution to common problem, and I now have double the sockets I had before and no more hubs that require yet another plug in psu.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not work in my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer. Was surprised to see that it requires one of the older 4 pin (4 in a row) power supplies rather than a 6 pin (2x3) type.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It does what it says it will, but no more than that. I bought 5 of these to fire a camera rig and test to see if adding 5 to one machine would allow me to download RAW images quickly rather than using 5 mini PCs. The results were that it was slower as there was a bottleneck with the controllers. The cards worked fine, and were very easy to use with Windows 7 but didn't work at all with Windows 8.1

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, easy to install and Maplin sells these cheaper than every other seller of this item new around the UK. Please consult your mobo (motherboard) hand book to make sure you have PCI1 express slots or they do not fit.
