Receive digital satellite programmes without depending on a fixed mounted satellite aerial. The mobile aerial allows you to receive signals at different places such as on a camping site. You can also connect the receiver to a fixed installed satellite aerial. The most common broadcasting stations are pre-programmed to the ASTRA, Hotbird, Sirius, Hispasat and Hellasat satellites.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sat dish Great bit of kit not a problem with this as it is easy to use good signal

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working I returned this to store having spent far too many hours trying to get a signal. Eventually I got a satellite installer to show me how to set up. He said what I had been doing was correct. He tested my LNB and not working. He tested the receiver and also not working. The satellite dish also had a worn out rivet which meant that it could rock and swivel even when fully secured. Whoever checks these at Maplin would appear to only do a parts list check and not any functional testing. I will wait until they get new kits in stock and reorder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bit of Kit I purchased this to take on our narrowboat holiday as previously we have had problems with TV signals depending on where we stopped. This worked a treat, only problem which some people may have is that the instructions tell you to point it at the Astra 19.2e satellite, to pickup UK Freesat it needs to be pointed at the Astra 28.2e satellite. Also the firmware is dated 2015 so some of the transponders setup for the Astra 28.2e satellite are not correct but you do have the option to modify these - the correct transponder settings can be found using a google search. However once these minor problems had been overcome we had all the TV we needed on our holiday including all the HD channels. The fact that it also comes in it's own carry case is a bonus. For the price, this is a fantastic.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What it says! Good price! Good coverage and lots of nice foreign channels. Signal sensor is invaluable but has to be next to the dish during setup. If it is raining it needs to be removed afterwards and the dish easily goes out of alignment. Need to buy a second cable and F connector to replace the Signal Sensor. Initial purchase returned and swapped mainly due to poor tech support from Maplin and Comag staff. Initial issue from Maplin HQ, also had a handbook only in German? Replacement unit from local store works OK after experiments to analyse the problem. Unit design has a problem with infra red controller as the address clashes with other TV controllers at home. Controlling the Sat dish for certain functions causes the TV to switch mode. Lots of research showed that it is not possible to customise the Infra Red Id address or function codes. Pity! Solved problem by research into infra red absorbing materials and developing an Infra red guide for the controller narrowing the controlling beam. Thank god for a career in Physics and electronics.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use It was easy to set up and well worth the money, although it was a refurbished/ returned item, all was as new, very pleased. Now I can watch F1 in real time and not have to pay a fortune to Sky for the privilege.

Hi, will I need to buy a satellite finder separately or is one included please. Thanks in advance.

Asked by: Andy
I recently purchased this and I also purchased a satellite finder thinking I would need one. I never used the finder. I connected this to my Sky dish at home and set it up from there. Then when I needed to use it when away from home it does have an on screen signal strength display so all I really needed was a compass app on my phone to tell me the direction to point it to and I used the on screen display to get the best signal. Typically took me less than a minute to the the dish setup.

Would this dish work at the side of my house instead of installing a Sky dish ?

Asked by: Cal 4
It's a standard satellite dish, as long as you aim it at the right part of the Sky it will work.

Will it work in Scottish Highlands?

Asked by: Davie
It would depend on what satellite signal you are looking to receive. For Freesat signals, the coverage footprints are listed in the link below. The whole of the UK should be covered, so if aligned correctly there should be no issues.

is the satellite to be placed outside the caravan or is it internal to the caravan

Asked by: discodog2
This would need to be placed outside it needs an unobstructed view of the sky to work.
