Brave the great outdoors with these rugged two-way radios. There’s no need to fear the water as the T92s are rated IP67, so they can withstand the heaviest of rain and even submersion in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes. If it falls in the water, the T92 will float – and you shouldn’t have any trouble finding it again thanks to its bright yellow design and water activated light. The radios can reach up to 10km in open areas and use the licence free 446MHz frequency band, making them a great alternative to mobile phones.
These PMRs are ready for anything, and have a built-in LED torch with both red and white modes so you can always see your way. An emergency alert button transmits an alert siren and then broadcasts the noises it can pick up in the area around the radio. There is also a built-in whistle in the belt clip which can be heard by anyone over large distances.
There are plenty of other features too, including voice activated transmission (VOX) which lets you send messages without touching a button. There is also a vibration mode for when you want to be stealthier, and the radios come with a single pin headphone connection for covert conversations.
What is the range of these PMR 446 handsets?
These two-way radios can reach up to 10km under ideal conditions. They are still effective in built-up areas or with obstacles between handsets, though the maximum range will be reduced. With their easy to spot yellow design, these are great radios for adventures or anywhere around water.
How many frequencies do these two-way radios have?
You’ll never struggle for a clear frequency as each unit has eight channels, which each have 121 privacy codes for a total of 968 privacy combinations. You can also use the key lock to ensure you don’t miss a call by accidentally changing the channel. The handsets have 20 call tones to contact others at a push of a button. They also come with roger bleeps and more discreet vibrate alerts, so you know when a communication is over. Simply scan and monitor to find the channel for you.
How do I charge my radios?
Keep in touch for up to 16 hours on a full charge with the rechargeable batteries supplied, or for up to 23 hours using alkaline batteries. The display includes a power indicator to show you exactly how much battery you’ve got left. When you need to recharge, simply plug the leads from the car charger into the handsets. If you can’t wait for the units to charge, then you can replace the supplied battery packs with three AA batteries per unit.
