The WS-853 incorporates a highly sensitive low-noise, directional stereo microphone unit to faithfully capture stereo sound. The 90 degree angled layout of the microphones facilitates real stereo recordings that also convey the original spatial ambience, perfect for small meetings and conversations. Its built in 8GB memory offers up to 2080 hours recording time (LP) in MP3 format. A Micro SD slot allows the memory to be extended up to 32GB, moreover the new calendar search allows quick and simple file searching. And the benefits don’t stop here either. The WS-852 includes the low-cut filter for noise reduction while recording, the Scene Select and Automatic Recording (VCVA) features and 99 Index Marks - all designed for maximum user-friendliness. Users also benefit from the direct USB, which thanks to a built-in connector lets files be transferred at any time or place to a PC or MAC– or allows it to be used as a portable USB storage device. Battery life is up to 110 hours and is supplied with two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries.

(Repeat question with word correction) Is this recorder definitely compatible with an iMac? i.e. is data easily transferable and straightforward via the usb option?

This product is listed in the manual as compatible with 'Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.10 standard installation' and should appear as a drive using the device model as the name. If there is an SD card installed in the recorder then [NO NAME] is displayed. Full details can be found in the manual available at the following link; http://52.50.15.149/Downloads/user-manual-10777
