Get great sound from a massive range of stations with this amateur band receiver, and listen to longwave, medium wave, shortwave, VHF, FM and even SSB transmissions. With a clear, easy-to-understand LCD display and intelligent backlighting that illuminates the screen for three seconds after you press any button, you can always see what you’re doing. Listen at home with the mains 6V power supply, or take the radio with you and listen with four D batteries (not included Order Code L45AL). The radio even comes with multiple handles and handgrips to make moving it around easier. This radio also has two built-in antennas – one for AM, medium and longwave, and one for FM, shortwave and VHF.
How do I store stations?
There are several ways of storing stations on the radio. Auto tuning storage automatically stores the strongest longwave and medium wave bands and FM stations in those bands into page zero, so you can select them at any time.
The auto scan station feature searches the band and stops on available frequencies for five seconds, where you can store them in your memory. Manual storage lets you find the station you want with the up/down buttons or tuning wheel, then store it to your memory. If you know the frequency of the station you are looking for, you can input the numbers directly then store them direct.
You can use fast tuning to get close to your station, then slow tuning allows you to fine tune to the best frequency. Once the stations are in your memory, you can flick through them and find the best thing on your preferred channels. Get a great reception with squelch control for FM and aircraft band and RF gain, and store up to 1000 channels on the radio itself.
What else can I do with this radio?
The twin phono output lets you listen to your favourite broadcasts with your personal sound system. When there’s nothing you want to listen to you can plug your MP3 player, or any suitable audio device, in with a 3.5mm headphone socket and listen to that through your radio. If you like single side band (SBB) there’s a 455 kHz AM IF outlet that you can connect to some devices by DIY. The radio comes with an antenna, but you can boost the received signal using an external antenna.
When can I use the radio?
Set the built-in clock and you can choose which station you want to wake up to. The clock comes complete with snooze and buzzer option. If you listen to the radio to unwind after a long day, set the radio into sleep mode and it will automatically switch off after a pre-set length of time from one to 120 minutes.
