What can do with this kit?
Get the most out of your audio equipment with this power amplifier kit (manufacturer’s code K8060). Take a weak signal and magnify it, running this kit from a pre-amp or mixing it into your speakers. An LED indicator tells you when the power is on and the circuit comes with overload and short circuit protection. This kit has a massive frequency range and works on the 3Hz-200kHz frequencies. With a compact 107mm x 62mm circuit, you can fit this kit in almost anywhere. This kit involves a high level of soldering skill and includes 57 parts, so is not suitable for beginners.

What can I learn from this mono pre-amp kit?
Practise soldering and learn about electronics and circuits with this pre-amplifier kit. The kit includes resistors, capacitors, a microchip and a potentiometer, and will help you learn how to connect a circuit. The circuit uses basic components including the resistors, transistors and capacitors to amplify a signal and a microchip to direct the circuit so that the output pattern is the same and the strength is increased. The discreet design uses Epitaxial Darlington transistors which can do the work of two transistors but use much less space. You can connect the input to a pre-amp or mixing desk and an output to a four ohm or higher speaker. This kit requires a soldering iron and solder (not included), and may require wire cutters and heat conductive compound.

How easy is this kit to solder?
This kit contains 57 parts and is suited for those with advanced skills in soldering. It is, however, a great kit for the audio enthusiast and those looking to improve their soldering skills. An enclosure (not included) is recommended for the kit to protect the electronics, as voltage of about 80V is present. With the enclosure, take care not to block the inputs and outputs or reduce the efficiency of the heatsink removing the heat from the surrounding area. This kit requires two 25-30V AC power supplies (not included) and will need a heatsink (not included, order code N40DF).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I used this amp to replace a blown power amp in my vintage WEM solid state guitar amp. It far surpasses the original power section in "clean mode & rock & roll" mode too. Adding plenty of power and punch to the sound output. Lucky for me, the internal transformer is the same voltage. The new amp fits in 1/4 the space inside the amp, needing only 1/2 the size heat sink of the original WEM power amp & probably 1/4 the cost of a repair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from worked first time I bought two of these for a stereo amp project. They went together easily and as described in the instructions. They worked from first powering them up. I'm not sure the PSU caps will sustain continuous running at high power, but I'm not planning to do that. The module needs a heatsink and a transformer, which were not available in-store. The heatsink at least should be part of the kit as it has custom drilling. Trying to power a pre-amp off the module PSUs caused instability - solved by creating a separate PSU.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a bad kit. Sounds good. Not easiest to build but resistors come on a strip in correct order of assembly. Found one fault in instructions. It says turn RV1 counter clockwise to start with. I did this and the amp got hot very quickly. The instruction sheet should say turn full clockwise to start with.

Does this really respond to frequencies at 200 khz ?

Would a car battery or car booster/  jump starter/  power pack power this fine? I'd like to fit it in aa mobile sub box for home & car. Thanks

The amplifier require a 40-0-40 volts ac power source i.e. +40v / 0v / -40 volts meaning it needs a centre tapped 80 volt transformer so nope, you cannot power it from a 12 volt DC supply.
