The Velleman WFS210 is the world's first WiFi dual channel digital storage oscilloscope geared towards tablet computers.

The WFS210 is a compact, portable battery powered fully featured two channel oscilloscope. Instead of a built-in screen it uses your tablet (iOS, Android or Windows) to display the measurements. Data exchange between the tablet and the oscilloscope is via WiFi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Scope... ...except that it is totally let down by the software needed to talk to it. I've managed to make it work with a Windows 7 laptop until I upgraded it to Windows 10. I also have an Android phone but they will not write a version for it (only tablets). Their excuse is that the screen is not big enough! The software was last updated in 2014 so not much hope really. To make this gadget a real success all that is needed is software that runs properly on Windows 10 and the killer would be if a mobile phone version was available. So a high rating for the box itself but minus several million for the software needed to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice, but It won't run on Windows 10! Since Microsoft is persuading all MS owners to change to Win10, and for free for a short period, this will only work with older Windows. Seems to be something to do with the way it handles WLAN WiFi connection. This is such a good tool that Maplin needs to put pressure on Velleman - especially for those of us who bought this superb and very practical oscilloscope

Rated 1 out of 5 by from For me - a total waste of money Bought this as storage and workspace was limited but what a disappointment it turned out to be. First thing to mention is that, although pictured, the scope does not come with a probe (that will cost you another £15+). The real disappointment however is the app which should link the scope to your android tablet. I have 2 android tablets, one running v4.0 and one with v4.4; this scope will not, reliably connect to either. Sometimes it will connect, briefly, to the android v4.0 tablet, but it will regularly drop the connection (even though the scope is sitting a few inches from the tablet). It is perhaps noticeable that the available app was last updated in 2014. Functionality is quite basic (when it does connect) and this device is overpriced for it's capability. Velleman support is virtually non existent relying on a 'community forum'. (I posted my experience on the Velleman forum a week ago and they have not responded at all). Suggest you steer clear of this device.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good, but I agree that it needs a phone app, I don't see the screen size being too much of a problem, given the increasing display sizes on phones these days. Also I have had no problems running it on Windows 10?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost effective for hobbyist / enthusiast Of course most people these days use some kind of computer screen, whether it be a PC or laptop or tablet, so it makes perfect sense to utilise this screen, instead of providing a dedicated screen on the oscilloscope. Good idea! Not supplied with probes, so try the cheap ones available separately.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from unreliable works quite well 'sometimes' but tricky to reproduce reliably

Hi. Does this unit work directly to a tablet or does it need to work through a router?. For example will it work in my car between the engine bay and the passenger compartment to monitor engine functions?.

Asked by: BrianR
Connect Both the Laptop and the Oscilloscope to your smartphone with the smartphone set as a "WiFi HotSpot" see your smartphone help file for details.....
