What can I create with this solder kit?
Create a 143mm tall Christmas tree with 18 randomly blinking LED candles with this deluxe Christmas tree solder kit (manufactures code MK117). Once built the tree stands upright on its own and has an easily accessible on/off switch. The 215 parts come together to create this great festive item to get you into the holiday spirit for Christmas.

What will I learn from this Christmas solder kit?
Practise soldering and learn about electronics and circuits with this Christmas tree kit which uses resistors, capacitors, transistors, and LEDs. Learn how they are connected in a circuit and get practical experience soldering them to create this fun Christmas tree. You can also experiment with different ways of wiring to see what a difference this makes to your display. . This kit requires a soldering iron and solder and may require wire cutters.

How easy is this kit to solder?
Simple to solder, this kit is great for a novice learning about electronics and wanting to practise soldering multiple types of components. Creating the Christmas tree is only the beginning. You could create a display (not included) for the tree to protect the electronics or stamp your own mark on the kit. It runs off a DC 9-12V power supply and comes with a battery holder for a 9V (PP3) battery (battery not included) and a power jack for a mains or car adapter (not included)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Kit I bought this to teach myself soldering, and it's a good kit to start with. Instructions are straightforward, and the PCB is nicely made so it's obvious where everything goes. The overview says 'requires minimal soldering '. I'd disagree with this as there are 427 individual solder joints to make - it took me around 6hrs to put it all together, though a more experienced solderer would be a lot quicker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No battery holder and R35 is the wrong value! Hi there - not sure if it was just my version but it is supposed to come with a battery holder and connector, however both are absent. It contains three screws to connect the board to the battery holder but not the holder itself. This means it will not stand up on its own - I screwed it to a piece of wood! Also, R35 should be 1k, it is 0? resulting in the three red LEDS on the lower right being too bright. PS - what is a 0? resistor?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not happy A good idea, but there's no circuit diagram, and so when sections of LEDs do not light, you have no idea of how to track the problem down. After soldering all the LED's this is a disappointment
