How secure are these portable hard drives?
WD security ensures that all files saved to the WD My Passport are safe and secure from prying eyes. Will the auto backup operate for a network drive location ( a WD My Cloud for example)?

The product descriptions says that "Reformatting is required for use with Mac OS". What does this reformatting entail, and can this product still be used with Macs?

Asked by: Geelayz
Please see the Apple support page below for details of how to do this https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201909 And it can be used with Mac once formatted that's why we say "Reformatting is required for use with Mac OS".

I was hoping to use this product to save files from my Mac. What kind of additional software is required for this, and is it included for free within the product?

Asked by: Geelayz

Is the "256-Bit AES hardware encryption keeps your data secure from prying eyes" that is in the description optional? Can I use the drive in the usual way without having to use a password?
