Centralise your media files and access them from anywhere
This WD My Cloud 6TB NAS drive (manufacturer’s code: WDBCTL0060HWT-EESN) lets you store all your pictures, videos and music in a central place and then lets you access them from anywhere with an internet connection. 6TB of storage space gives you room for up to 46.5 hours of 4K video at 30 fps, 198 hours of 1080p video at 30 fps, 1,500 two-hour DVD movies, 1.92 million digital pictures or 99,600 hours of digital music. If you find 6TB is just not enough, just plug an external USB drive into the USB 3.0 port, expanding your storage space immediately.

What are some of the backups I can do with this NAS drive?
Set automatic backups for your Windows or Apple Mac computer with WD SmartWare Pro for Windows and Apple’s own Time Machine program for Macs. Backups can be set to either save whole folders/all information on the computer or to backup only when changes have been made. This gives you the choice between a slower but more thorough backup and a quicker backup.

To make sure any backups are completely safe, a second copy (safe points) can be created and saved to an external location on your network or on an attached USB drive. If the My Cloud device fails, the snap shot of settings and any backups made at the specific time the safe point was created allows you to easily recover your data.

What are some of the apps I can use with this?
The dedicated My Cloud app, which is available for Apple iOS and Android smart devices, lets you upload to and view files from your personal cloud anywhere. This helps to free up space on your smart devices, so you can install more apps and take more pictures and videos. You can also transfer files between your Dropbox account and the My Cloud through the My Cloud app, giving you the ability to integrate your public cloud account with your own private cloud.

Can I send files wirelessly to smart devices?
Stream your music/video collections or your travel pictures to a smart TV, media player, speaker, games console or any other DLNA or UPnP compatible device connected to the same network as the My Cloud. As My Cloud is DLNA and UPnP certified it can act as a server for each of these clients to access.

Can more than one person have access to this?
Multiple user accounts can be set up and given access to their own folder within the WD My Cloud. You could also give them access to shared folders too. This makes it great for anyone who wants to share the NAS with multiple employees or just with friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for backing up my files I've been using the WD My Cloud Drive for just under a month now and it does what is says on the tin. Backs up my files and I love the fact I can access them easily online too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Hard Drive? I've owned a number of hard drives over the years and this is just excellent. It's as fast as your wi-fi network (there are other reviews that explain this) and has been extremely reliable. The cloud backup is invaluable, meaning you can store vital data without fear of losing it if the HD fails. The WD site is excellent and enables access anywhere, from any device. Recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just What Was Needed Very easy to set up out of the box. Just plug in, power up, log in and you are done. The only downside is it didn't recognise the PC running Win XP with partitioned drive but a look on the WD website should solve it I hope.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not as simple as it looks and unsuitable for older machines I had great hopes of this product not least because i could back up more than one device and access content by the internet. The packaging hints at a 1-2-3 method, which I need. This was backed up by help in the shop. however despite my son helping we have not been able to get the thing to recognise my computer let alone back it up. I am very disappointed.

Is this WD My Cloud encrypted like the WD MyBooks? I've had a bad experience with a WD MyBook; the casing failed and I couldn't retrieve my data because WD encrypts the disks and they don't work in any other casing, nor will WD un-encrypt them.

Asked by: Juedne
Unfortunately we do not have this information, this kind of question is best directed to WD directly.

Hi, I'm new to NAS. I assume that this is a single bay. Is it better to have 2 bays. If I install  this drive can I attach another at a later date?

Asked by: SuzyWoo
Two bays does allow you to expand your memory with a second drive.
