Rated 2 out of 5 by from This is NOT a 7200 rpm drive! Got this home and checked spec with other suppliers as no reference to 7200rpm on hard drive. This appears to be a 5400 rpm drive from the Green range and whilst will no doubt be cool running does not provide the access speed I was after

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No problems I have this as the data drive in a media system that boots from an SSD, so it's not that crucial for performance. It's several months old now, haven't had any problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what it says on the tin We'd already installed this and copied over a drive image before we realised it's not actually 7200rpm so is a lot slower than we assumed. Spin time isn't mentioned anywhere in the information. I noticed someone else complained about this when I came here to write my review and 2 years ago you were in the process of updating the website to correct it....?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value given the choice. Good value given the choice of hardrives on the website. Would have liked higher platter spin speed ( 7200 rpm)for future video editing though.

Can this hard drive be used in a CCTV DVR?

Asked by: DelGuitar
We would not recommend using a standard computer hard drive in a CCTV system as they are not designed to cope with continuous use. We would recommend a CCTV optimised drive such as the following; https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/wd-purple-2tb-cctv-optimised-35-inch-sata-iii-hard-drive-a77ta

2 questions. Is this already formatted? And is it ntfs?

Asked by: Edward
The drive is suitable for use in any number of operating environments or systems, to this end it does not have any mount/format pre installed. You would mount and format the drive for whichever system you need to use it on.
