How does WD Red benefit a network attached storage?
WD Red is perfect for your NAS solution as it has been designed and tested for 24/7 runtime, and is rated at one million hours MTBF (mean time before failure). It also has measures in place to enhance error checking, while preventing the chances of the hard drive being kicked off a RAID array. It has also been thoroughly checked and approved for maximum performance in NAS enclosures. The WD Red offers reduced noise and vibrations, which is largely beneficial if you have four more drives in close proximity all vibrating at once.

What can I store on this hard drive?
This hard drive has three terabytes (3,000 GB) of storage, so you have plenty of space to store your files. You can store up to 3,000 hours of digital video, 750 two-hour DVD films, over 900,000 digital photos or roughly 50,000 hours of digital music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great NAS drives!! Please keep stocking these!! I have an 8 bay NAS and these drives are by far the best I've found so far ;)

Hi. Could you please confirm that this is the latest version, ie, NASware 3.0?

Asked by: Zitburger
We do get our stock directly from Western Digital who have now ceased production of NASware 2.0, however we cannot guarantee at this stage that all our older stock has been sold through at this stage.

Could I put this in an older mac please?

Asked by: Rich
In addition to Billy's answer .... make sure that your Mac is capable of supporting drives of 3TB in size, if you have an older Mac that can only see drives up to 2048GB (to pick a number at random) then anything bigger will just be ignored by the BIOS.
