The WD My Passport Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive offers a large 2TB (2,000GB) of data storage to take around with you. This is plenty of space for any on the go storage needs, and you can store up to*:

• 15.5 hours of 4K video at 30fps

Can I back up my files using this hard drive?
Included with the WD My Passport is the WD back up software, which protects your files against getting lost. You can manually run the software or create a schedule to automatically create a backup of your important files.

How secure are these portable hard drives?
WD security ensures that all files saved to the WD My Passport are safe and secure from prying eyes. Create a personalised password unique to you and be safe in the knowledge that your files are protected with 256-bit hardware encryption. Should you misplace your drive somewhere, a ‘return if found’ prompt can be set to display a customised message and help the drive get back to you.

Easy to use portable storage
The WD My Passport Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive uses a driver-free installation and works instantly on computers running Windows 7, 8 and 10. Simply connect the drive using the USB 3.0 connection and begin transferring files straight away. The drive can also be used with a USB 2.0 connection but at a reduced speed.

The WD My Passport can also be used with Mac operating systems, though a format will be required.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Prefer the earlier version I bought this item to replace an earlier version purchased in 2012, which was lost (fortunately it was well password protected - users take note.) The latest model is a little bulkier than the earlier one, without the rounded corners, so will not fit a pocket so well. True, it offers some extra features such as auto-backup, but these are of little interest to me. I just want a pr=ortable back-up for my photos when travelling. Also, in spite of assurances from WD, the model is incompatable with Windows XP. XP's Windows Explorer cannot 'see' it. (In would like to thank the Maplin staff for their assistance in proving this point.) I will be upgrading my desktop this year, but need the drive now, and anyway intend to keep my XP laptop (without internet access). I have swapped the new drive for one of my wife's earlier models, which is XP compatable. Maplin also offered a soft case for the drive, but it does not fit the new model! They are refunding me the cost of that item, but should remove it from their website, or at least post warnings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic HDD Great product, easy to use, plug and go...... Purchased to use as storage device for recorded TV programmes with our smart TV. Fantastic, we now have twice the capacity of Sky+ box to record non 'sky' channels, thus leaving ample room on the Sky+ box to record Sports etc......

on your site it says there is a two year warranty but on the product there is a three year warranty?

Asked by: ollie
If the packaging states a 3 year warranty then go by this - it's possible that they have updated their packaging. We will honour any extended warranty but you will need to retain the packaging/ warranty card as proof.
