Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does all I expected it to Bought it a few weeks ago. Downloaded the app to my iPhone 6 and Ipad 2. Works a treat. Great feature is the built in SD card reader. Not the fastest, but pulls in raw and jpegs from my Canon 5D mk3 no problem. Wifi means I can link to my iPhone and iPad and extract the pix to edit on the go. Nothing adverse found so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from lost all data I won't recommend it - I lost all data and of course i did have to pay to recover it which cost me more than it is worse May look cute but not solid or stable at all

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does nothing very well - avoid purchasing! This is an extremely poor product. It never manages to remain on a Wi-Fi network, and re-connecting to a network on an almost daily basis is a painfully slow process, which involves rebooting the hard drive, connecting to its own hotspot, going into the settings, trying multiple times to connect to your network and then eventually succeeding. The whole process takes about 30 minutes. I purchased this as my Mac hard drive was becoming full, and so wanted to use this to connect to and store files on. However, every time I want to save or read from the drive it has dropped offline again! Additionally, the read/write speeds are very slow. Additionally, Western Digital support are useless. I would honestly recommend that you do not purchase this product. However, the Seagate wireless plus is no better - I had that before this one, and ended up taking it back and swapping. Very poor product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as good as I thought it would be I bought this to back up my iPhone, but it doesn't recognise an iphone 3GS. I wanted to back up my Mac but it doesn't recognise Mac OSX Tiger. It has backed up my PC but I don't understand how to back up ipad4. When I ask Western Digital a question I just get ignored. So I have 2 TB of space without much on it. Bit of a waste of money.

If you plugged card reader into this device, with an SD of Compact Flash card in it, would the card and the files on it be visible in the WD MyCloud App running on an iPad or iPhone, and could they then be downloaded on to the hard drive via the app?

Is there a case available for this product for use when travelling?

On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.

Does this product need WiFi connection to stream from. Its self to a tablet for watching films?

Asked by: Joe123
It broadcasts a network name and the tablet joins that network. It will work even if there is no other Wi-Fi available for streaming data from the drive to the host device.

Can this be used as an alternative to the mac time capsule device? (e.g can it be used to back up the contents of my mac whilst not plugged into the USB port?)

Asked by: Andy H
While this device is compatible with Apple Time Machine, the unit would need to be in USB mode to use Apple Time Machine.

Is there a model compatible for download with Windows 10

Asked by: scooby
As this operates as a network storage drive, this should be compatible with Windows 10 without the need for any software installation.

what is the wireless security, is it invisible to other devices who may scan for it? thanks

Asked by: brian77
The unit if fully configurable and supports the following security settings. Security Type Select the type of security to be applied to the drive’s Wi-Fi network: • Disabled (no security) is the default • WPA2 Personal • WPA/WPA2 Personal Mixed WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and WPA2 are security protocols that use a dynamically changing key. WPA2 is the second generation protocol that uses stronger AES (Advanced) Encryption Standard) encryption. WPA/WPA2 mixed security mode provides better compatibility with older devices. However, for better performance and higher security, WPA2 security mode is highly recommended. This information can be found on page 28 of the operating instruction for the device, a link to which we have provided on the listing under the downloads tab or by following this link https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/A94RQUser-Manual-2373.pdf
