What could I use this siren for?
This miniature siren is ideal for use with your alarm system or as a replacement for an existing one. Despite its compact size, the siren produces sound that is equivalent to a car horn (115dB), giving you a loud siren that can be easily hidden away. The siren can be used indoors and outdoors too, due to the weatherproof IP55 rating. Supplied with two removable mounting brackets, you get even more mounting possibilities. Prewired with a twin cable (bare red and black wires), you can power this with any DC power supply that can supply between 6V to 14V at a maximum current of 150mA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very loud siren ideal for your house alarm system. It will hurt your ears if you use it as a internal siren!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really Loud - but.... I fitted this horn in the garage for the external alarm system - admittedly some while ago (2-3 years?) - but last night it failed completely. It's hardly ever been used and frankly I would have expected it to last a smidgen longer than it did! There's no way to get into it so it's the scrap heap I'm afraid and buy another. Poor show.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SERIOUSLY LOUD I found one of these in the bargain bin because it was missing a bracket and the box was battered and I thought it worth chancing a fiver to see what it could do, and am I ever glad I did. Firstly, my doorbell is ridiculously lame, putting out probably about 20 decibels, meaning I can't hear it even in my kitchen and if I'm asleep or playing piano with headphones on, forget it. Trying to get my landlord to replace it is like pulling teeth, and as the main door to the building is 10 metres from my flat, it's an issue as I never hear it if I'm doing anything other than sitting silently, and my visitors can't knock my door. But seeing as the bell is pulling 12v from the mains, I was able to attach this foghorn in less than five minutes and now whether I'm asleep, playing piano with earphones on or in the kitchen cooking away with music blasting, it's impossible not to know when someone's at the door. No more missed delieveries or telling my friends to phone me when they're outside. Totally awesome. Next up, I've been pondering for a while how to fix an airhorn to my pushbike, but as this baby can scream its heart out with just a 9v battery powering it, I've got a nice little Sunday project lined up. The amount of pedstrians who dice with death daily by stepping into the road without looking because they are overly reliant on their ears or too engrossed in their phones - five to ten a week for me; ask any daily cyclist in London, they'll tell you the same - and the rise of electric vehicles, which obviously can't swerve like a cyclist can, means the death toll is going to rise too, so a major public health campaign is in the pipeline (I'm in psychology and this is not opinion, it's inside knowledge) so I'm looking forward to doing my bit to shock those deathwish pedestrians into sensible behaviour on the roads by giving them 115 decibels of maplin siren wake up call..
