Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was thrilled to purchase this keyring wind-up torch in December 2012, believing I had solved my "travelling torch" problem. (Torches that use batteries do not keep their power in between occasional use when going away for holidays / weekend breaks etc.) For the first six months, it worked fine and is so small and light it is a welcome addition to a travel bag. Next trip, I picked it up and it was DEAD. No amount of winding would give even a faint gleam, The unit is wholly sealed so (assuming that the internal rechargeable battery has died) it is impossible to remedy. Such a shame as I object strongly to adding to landfill useless items. And even though not expensive, six months occasional use is very poor value

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I bought this as I live on a boat and I thought that it would help me when I walk along the towpath in the dark. When I first bought it it was really bright and lit my way as well as any bigger wind up torch would. I have now had and used it for 3 days in a row and it has already got A LOT dimmer. I wound it for a full 5 minutes with the light switched off and I only got aprox 3 minutes of light before it went so dim that there was no point in me having it turned on. I do like it and it is a good idea. I think that if you only want it to say light up your front door so that you can find your key hole or you drop something in the dark and you need light for a few seconds to fint what your dropped then this is great. If you want to use it as a light then don't bother. All in all a good idea but not very well carried out. I do still have it on my keys though as It is good to have a small torch for the times when I forget my main torch. Even though I bought it to save having to carry my main torch with me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed. Very short useful life. I bought one of these in the autumn; liked it so much that I bought 3 more, for handbag, pockets etc. All have now ceased to function; no amount of winding produces a light. Like another reviewer, disappointed to have to add to Council recycling (not landfill!).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't last long I used this torch on a long haul flight in the toilet due to having a medical condition and it was fantastic both flights there and back. But now it is DEAD and does not work any longer so confidence is a little shaken...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright This is a very bright little torch, and once it is charged it last a fair time.

How many rotations per minute is required to power the torch for 30 mins?

Asked by: IMEE
Just wind when needed , the light is instantly turned on while winding.

Which way do you turn the generator handle? It will move either way but, the storage must work on DC, so one way may generate the wrong polarity. (Could this be why some have been reported as having failed, in the reviews?).

Asked by: Colin Joseph
When the item is flat leave the torch in the on position turn the handle if the LED's light up that is the correct way turn the torch off and continue to turn in the same direction to charge the item.
