What is the advantage of a beam alarm?
The Wireless Security Beam Alarm consists of two units that project and receive an infrared beam when blocked it activates the alarm. The beam alarm can be used as either an alarm, in chime mode to account for visitors or as a continuous chime to warn for blockages. The receiver and sender can be placed up to 20m apart either side of a doorway or access making it ideal for entrance and exits as well as any restricted areas. The Wireless Security Beam Alarm has multiple volume setting for flexibility depending on the area it is operational in.

Easy to Setup and Ready to Go
The Wireless Security Beam Alarm is a standalone IR beam barrier alarm with built-in siren. Easy and quick setup as the PIR Intruder Alarm is battery operated (batteries not included Order Code L43AL) with optional mains power (mains adapter not included).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have had a set of these for over 8 years now. I initially purchased them to act as a cabinet alarm in my camera shop - the beam was directed down a 30 foot wall of display cabinets, and if a door was opened, the chime was set to go off. It perfomed this task with no problems, and a change of batteries once a week or so. After 3 years of continuous daily use, I sold the business, and the alarms were retired to less strenuous use. I now occasionaly put them across the drive to let me know if the postman comes while I am in the garden - a good loud chime almost always does the trick. They are great for all sorts of uses, let you know if someone's nosing around in the garage while the doors are open etc. and are small enough not to notice too easily. One feature they have which the item page doesn't mention is that if you press themn together back to back, they lock into each other so they don't separate and get lost fom each other in storage. Great little product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over 1 year 24/7 OUTDOORS (no direct exposure to rain) and still no problem. Very reliable. Some false "alarms" during HEAVY rain or snow. Operated by 6VDC transformers (inside, cables through wall)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Transmitter uses a lot of battery power so a transformer might be a good idea

Could an intruder/ alternatively could I switch the unit off without triggering the alarm?

Asked by: NickP
It would be down to the positioning of the receiver unit as this contains the alarm itself. If you position this so that in order to access the switches on the unit you need to cross the beam or move the unit out of alignment it would always trigger for at least a moment before being switched off.
