A high quality wirewound resistor sealed in a high insulation ceramic block. The block is heat and moisture resistant and non-flammable. The resistor is low noise, very stable and has an overload capability of ten times the rated power for 5 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, this is by far the best 10 Ohm resistor out there. I came to Maplin with high expectations and they weren't let down - its beautiful design, sturdy construction and ease of use make this one well worth your money. Maplins stock a wide range of resistors but this one really takes the biscuit. Also arrived quickly.

can this cut the rate of 12 v to 6v ??

A 10 Ohm resistor would dissipate 14W of power in a 12V circuit, how this would affect the power supplied would depend on the type of circuit and the other components attached.
