Would this CCTV controller be a good choice for me?
The Xvision CCTV controller with keyboard and joystick can be connected to a maximum of 31 pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) speed cameras, with a communication distance covering 1200m. Providing you with a versatile and capable speed dome controller.

What can I do with the Xvision CCTV controller?
The Xvision controller allows you to connect up to 31 PTZ speed cameras, with the details of each camera being displayed on the backlit LCD screen. With the three axis joystick you can tilt, pan and zoom each camera. The joystick is pressure sensitive too, so the movement speed of the dome is affected by how much pressure you apply. Additionally, you can pre-set camera, scan and pattern movements for ease of control later.

The Xvision controller provides you with a range of features that allow you to control a number of cameras, with pre-sets and keyboard shortcuts making monitoring that much easier.

How would I connect a camera to the Xvision CCTV controller?
To connect the Xvision speed dome keyboard and joystick to a camera, follow the instructions set out on your camera’s instruction manual to set the protocol and numbering of the camera. Then simply connect the RS485 cable (that should be included with your camera) to the RS485 port on the controller. If your cable is not long enough you are able to get an extension cable (such as order code: N93NH).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very good quality controller. It is quit heavy and solidly built. The smoothness of the joy stick is excellent with the slightest bump feeling to let you know the up down left and right positions. It allows you to zoom whilst panning which the remote controllers don't. It feels very ergonomic to use which over a period of time will be very helpful. The small screen has all the “Menu” options on it which you can control thru the joy stick itself. The keyboard that is hidden beneath the removable hand rest cover is well laid out with all the functions your need. There is an infrared eye where the function cable/mains power cable comes out which would be useful to some people possibly. My only slight criticism with it is and would be useful if Xvision is reading this is to extend the cable length it is too short for any moving about the work area, extend the length by double would be good. All in all it is as you would expect from Xvision a neat tidy and very useful well made controller and yes I would of course recommend it to a friend completely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I agree, its an exelent controller. As i am in the trade, i have used many units and this compares very well with all of them! my only critisism would be as other people have said, that the cable should be at least twice as long as it is at present. other than that, a very well built and easy to use unit. buy one iff you can.

If u had 4 ptz cameras would you have to buy any more components to add more than 1 as on the back it only has one positive and one negative ?Thanus

Asked by: ALFIE
You would need to connect the PTZ control cables from the 4 cameras into a terminal block and the connect a cable from the terminal block into the controller. Something like http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/3a-terminal-blocks-3-pack-l96ar Each camera needs to be prepared with it's own ID/Address so that they can all be controlled independent of each other.

If I connected a camera to this controller is there any way I could control it on the dvr aswell

Asked by: ALFIE
It is unlikely as the PTZ cameras are only designed with one control channel in mind. The two wires which allow for the movement control would need to be wired to either the DVR or to this controller.
