OK, I only got this delivered yesterday (just to note, I don't have Amazon Prime but it still got delivered the next day! Thank you, Amazon!), so I haven't really had that much chance to test it fully. However, so far, the modern look, it's ease of operation and simplistic design are very pleasing.
I bought this device for my home office as I have limited space and just want to work from home a bit more often. I needed a way to change posture every now and then, as sitting for many hours does tend to put a strain on my back.
I've been looking at many options and settled on this one for several reasons. There are a number devices like this on the market, some of which are larger, support heavier loads and have separate keyboard rests. Obviously, if you're after those kinds of design then this clearly won't be for you. However if, like me, you're looking for a way to work standing every once in a while then this is a good option.
This device's footprint, when in it's collapsed state, is quite impressive. I haven't measured it but it's something like 2.5cm tall, so you can easily work on this when it's flat. If you're wanting to hide it away after use, it's about 12Kg. I suspect this wouldn't be particularly onerous as you can pick it up using the handles but, due to it's width, could be awkward for some.
Another device I've seen with that kind of minimal design is the Posturite Opløft Standing Desk Converter, which can also be bought on Amazon. However, at the time of this review, that's three times the price of this unit. I am actually ordering one of these anyway, as I'd like to know if there's much difference in quality etc. One design feature that I personally think looks better on the Proper model, compared to the Opløft stand, is that there are no adjustment handles on the surface. But, I will reserve my judgement until I receive the other stand.
Also, I appreciate it mentions this on the item's page though, there's a leaflet in the box which states it will only take a maximum weight of 10Kg. Now, for most purposes, I'm sure that would suffice for an 'average' setup (if there is such a thing) but I thought I'd clarify that in case that presents any limitations with the kit you're wanting it to support. Something else to note, which I don't think is mentioned on the item's page, is that this does have a pressurised tube to assist the changing of height. It's easily strong (and stable) enough to assist in lifting my monitor, keyboard and mouse - and a drink- maintaining a good level of rigidity.
The sound of the pressured tube can be heard when you lift or lower the desk and I'd say is marginally quieter to that of an office swivel chair so, if that's a concern (maybe you have small children and don't want to chance waking them etc) it may be useful to note. However, for the amount of times you'll probably change between positions and the fact that it can be left in any position anyway, I wouldn't have thought that's a problem. (NOTE: both lever mechanisms on each side need to be triggered simultaneously to adjust the size. This could be a problem if the user has a disability).
All in all, I'm very pleased with this kit. It exceeded my expectations given the price difference of it's competitor(s). If you're looking for something in this area, then I can definitely recommend it. It has a sleek, contemporary design, feels well built and is easy to use. For reference, I bought the white version of this. I believe there's also a black version though you'd have to check the site for clarification.
Hope this helps someone!
P.S.: Sorry for not including a pic - I've just moved home so things are a little upside down!
